south fog was thicker. showers going across southern maryland and northern neck of virginia. everything is way off to the south as that system pushes through the carolinas. we head into tomorrow morning. 66 degrees the top of the hour. southwest wind at 7. dew point 59. not uncommon at this time of year to have the dew points up to 70 or low 70s. last couple days it's been great. that trend i think will continue on monday and tuesday. right now we are in the mid- 60s. we will drop off just a few degrees from this point. 63 in winchester. 67 degrees at vwi. watching a weak system coming out of the great lakes. this is the one that gave us the rain shower activity pushing through the carolinas but kind of hard to see. just look north of detroit. this little patch of clouds here. that is a piece of energy in the upper levels of the atmosphere that is going to swing through here during the day tomorrow. that's why i put that 20 to 30% chance of a shower in the forecast. this same basic pattern will be with us for the neck couple of days. the jet stream digging down to the south. l

maryland. this is a story we first brought you at len and then on wusa9.com. the chopper went down on sper state 70. the crash is on southmountain in smithsburg, maryland. digital correspondent, james hash, has this report from the scene. >> reporter: ntsb investigators spent the night combing there the charred wreckage, trying to determine why the robinson r-44 helicopter went down. there were four people on board. all were killed in the fiery crash. >> we found at that.the helicopter being fully involved in fire there was confirmation that four individuals did suck some to the injuries in part of the collision. >> reporter: the helicopter struck the ground shortly before 10:30 on wednesday night, six miles east of hagerstown, maryland on i-70 narrowly missing the left lane of the busy highway. >> it is a popular helicopter in the general aviation community and its safety record is described as impeccable. crews are conducting an investigation now but there's no word on the cause of the crash. the hagerstown area did receive heavy thunderstorms on thursday evening but it is unknown if they contribute to the crash. >> th
