police say the 54-year-old woman who lives up his home in northwest miami-dade south of 79th street near i-95 got word that her of i was going off on thursday evening. she rushed home to check things out, and police say that she was armed. >> she observed a subject, exiting the home through the rear. >> reporter: according to police, confrontation, shots fired and a 17-year-old was wounded and killed. the family tells cbs4 news veteran yvonne johnson was pronounced dead at the hospital. police say that they were on the scene seconds after the the teenager. there is much that investigators could not tell us like how he got in the home, if anything was taken and if the homeowner has been victimized before. we do know that the police say the homeowner is cooperating with detectives, and was taken to a police station for questioning. >> she is a person that obviously is a little distraught because this is her home. you know? someone obviously was inside. >> reporter: relatives of the teenager showed up on the scene but did not want to answer questions. investigators say that they are trying
