bay area app. two break-ins in less than two weeks, the owners of a popular south bay pizza restaurant are frustrated after burglars targeted both of their locations and because the shops operate as a worker co-op. it's not only affecting the owner's pocketbooks, but the employees as well. marianne favro is in sunnyvale with the story you'll see only on nbc bay area. the first break in was last month here at the slice of new york pizza in sunnyvale. then, just this last weekend, there are other locations in santa clara was hit. the security camera video shows someone dressed in black throw a rock through the front door of a slice of new york in santa clara early saturday morning. you can see the suspect rummages through the store's empty registers and then flees in less than a minute. this is the aftermath. a hefty cleanup job and the cost of more than $1,000 out of pocket to replace a front door. this is just vandalism. criminal activity. and, you know, it's just not stopping. general manager kirk barton says before this break-in at their santa clara restaurant, someone smashed a window and ransacke

and it is something that is shrouding a whole lot of the bay this morning that low stratus from the south bay, north bay, parts of the inland east bay and especially the coastline. now, this wind is brought to us by this low. that is skirting its way just past us to the north really cooling things off, especially today and tomorrow, brief resurgence of warmth to come friday, especially the warmest day of the rest of the week's forecast. but for another low dives in later on into the weekend and early next week. this is going to keep us on the west coast cooler than average while much of the rest of the country is warmer than average. and this certainly does apply to the bay to with september 15 through 19 forecast looking well below seasonable normals. so it's nice that we yeah. after our heat wave to start the month of september, having nicely cool down and staying that way for the most part future cast does show a little bit of coastal drizzle on the santa cruz mountains. otherwise just kind of an overcast one. today you'll see your pics of sunshine, especially further inland. tomorrow

moving the bay area forward on the push to bring new business to one part of the south bay as soon asay. san jose leaders may approve a new improvement district and even before it's created, some of the businesses there are trying to make a difference in their community. today in the bay's kris sanchez joins us to explain how a $25 monthly investment may lead to a huge payoff here. kris. well, laura, the goal is to take that $25 investment into a whole lot of change. and these folks are going to organize. they're going to collaborate. and in order to help those 500 east san jose businesses take that cash and maximize their impact, the city will now create the tully road eastridge business improvement district. i want to show you where this is. it's encompassing more than those 500 businesses along tully road between east capitol expressway and highway 101 that includes the businesses on quimby road as well as eastridge mall. now, many of the businesses have already been working together to make that area better, and they secured a $50,000 grant through their city council person toward

and it really has been such a big part of the south bay community. ig part of the community for 31 years. and tonight the sap center is hosting its 5,000th event. and let's take a look at some of the history here. the sap center first opened its doors back 31 years ago, and in that time they've hosted 50 million visitors through for all different kinds of events. the 20 there's $20 million in annual tax revenue and that's just from the sharks, not from any of the other events that happened here. now the sharks are negotiating their ten year contract. so we're hoping that this will be a continuation of the tradition. they are promising another. $101.25 billion in economic impact over just the next five years. and of course, hockey is not the only thing that happens here at the sap center. you might remember we were here last year for the us gymnastics. we saw simone biles suni lee competing before they headed off to the olympics. u.s. figure skating. they were here for their championships ncaa basketball a few years ago, atp tennis tournaments. and the
