now we also have a situation on south padre island, one of the barrier islands here, just off the coast of corpus christi. corpus christi firefighters have been over there. they were battling a major house fire. those were their words over there. obviously, the chief was concerned about having to dispatch firefighters to fight that fire in the middle of a hurricane. now, that has been a concern about how first responders would handle some of these dangerous winds and the potential for flash flooding here as well. again we are told that firefighters have been over there trying to dell with that fire and keep it from spreading to any other homes, because, of course, those are barrier islands. who ill this area here was under a voluntary evacuation, barrier islands, generally speaking, people know to get out. because tray so susceptible to major hurricanes and even tropical storms, frankly. we also have a situation here, where we are under a precautionary boil water oil. >> that is coming from the city of corpus christi. they are asking people here to not cook, not drink, not wash their fa

one of those we saw on south padre island.e had corpus christi firefighters over there earlier this morning battling a massive house fire, trying to make sure that that fire would not spread to other homes there, obviously, a lot of people chose to leave those parrier islands. those homes were unoccupied at the time. fire fighters doing tear best to make sure that fire would not go further than that one house. what exactly caused that fire is still not clear at this point. again, these were first responders that had to head out to a fairer island in the middle of a category 4 hurricane. in the meantime. we do have -- 211,000 people on the texas gulf coast communities at this point, 162,000 here in the corpus christi area alone without power. corpus christi not out of the woods yesterday despite those adjustments and rain and flooding levels we might be seeing here. again we have been keeping an eye on the possibility of a strong six-to-12 foot storm surge here in corpus christi. we have fought seen that at this point. >> that

it likely will make landfall with significant winds up to 70 miles per hour just north of south padresland and also corpus christi. the bigger impact and the more widespread impact will be the rainfall. we could see up to 3 inches of rain in dallas but look at the texas coastline including houston, texas, which about every five years or so gets hit hard by a slow moving tropical storm. up to 14 inches of rain is predicted from now until sunday along the texas coast. that will be a significant problem there. more rainfall than we typically see in three winter months, they may get in the next five days in texas. low pressure area off the southern california coastline continues to feed in that light to moderate onshore flow keeping our temperatures in check. as soon as that leaves, a big ridge will build in which will jack those temperatures up away from the water by some 20 degrees into the triple digits. coast and bay fog is likely overnight tonight. we'll see lows around 60 degrees. san jose 60. mountain view 60. oakland 58. low cloud cover in san rafael with an overnight low of 56 de

there was a fire at a house on south padre island, a barrier here. fir fitters had to go over there during the category 4 hurricane to basically prevent it from spreading to any other houses, there was also a house fire, three house, in fact, on boliver peninsula north of here, firefighters had to go out there and hand him that. back here in corpus christi, the outstanding issue with there is a precautionary boiled water in place. they say look you cannot brush your teeth, wash your face or cook or drink with this water. because they are not sure what kind of damage hurricane harvey caused to the water system here. but it's going to be several days before they can actually test that water and physical out if there is any kind of contamination. so out of an abundance of caution, they are asking people to please boil tear water here. wow, we are getting quite a gust right now. sorry about. that they are asking people to make sure if they bill their water to prevent any contamination to them. alex. >> okay. very quickly, i'm looking at this driveway to

this outer eye wall is now coming on shore in the south padre island. winds are already -- they clocked at about 110 miles an hour. that was before we had this eye wall. we all say there's a landfall. that's probably maybe an hour or two away. it's moving so slowly. i want to show you this. one of the computer models. we trusted a lot. here's the landfall. 24 hours from now, we still have a hurricane just around 50 miles or so inland. that's saturday. go into sunday and monday morning, still the center of a storm around corpus christi. right where rob is. going to tuesday into wednesday, you get the idea. we still have this storm here. it's not until maybe thursday or so that it's gone. some models indicating that the storm actually might just dissipate over the next week and a half. that means all of that moisture that is up in the atmosphere is going to fall down across this area and that is why we're so concerned about this catastrophic flooding. how much rain? national weather service has been saying something like 35 inches. i've never seen the nat
