a lot of people in south san francisco experienced the strong winds last night. it even brought this canopy at this valero gas station down. you can also see that it fell onto two pumping stations there. they both have significant damage to that. we also spoke with the person who sells fuel to this gas station. you will hear from him in a second. we spoke to the communications director with the city leslie. she was telling us there were no customers when this fell, only the owner was here. thankfully nobody was hurt. then she says emergency personnel responded and shut off the gas valves. the owner is looking to get this back up and running as quickly as possible. the person who sells gas to the station was also here today. his name is mike murri. he tells us depending on when the owner gets there and they scanned demolish, they can't get started as soon as tomorrow. we have seen crews today looking at the damage. he has been living here for a long time and he says it could take as long as three months to get this back up and running. a lot of is heard and felt h

injured shortly after the national weather service issued a flash flood warning for san francisco, daly city in south san francisco. five minutes later a hailstorm covered the city, with it came lightning, dozens of strikes across the city including on the iconic sutro tower. captured it from far away and up close. the heavy downpour caused more flooding's around the city making it dangerous for cars to be on city streets. within minutes of us being there public works managed to clear the blocked storm drain. here is some of the debris they collected all morning. but the fallen trees continued to be the city's main issue, since new year's eve public works has responded to about 1000 downed trees and branches, today alone 14. >> we have been out hustling all day long since predawn mainly dealing with downed trees that is the big issue right now as well as localized flooding. >> this morning crews worked quickly on removing this black would acacia which fell on a car, the owner was not inside >> the ground is so wet it is a low-lying area and water is pulling up tree is heavy and is going to fall over.

brooks jarocz and south san francisco to show us what happened out there, brooks. david's understandable why this wind is causing all these power outages because we keep feeling gust after gust here in south san francisco, we're in susie way in an apartment complex and you can see all this damage behind me. that's because the roof came off. we're told there was tarpaper up there. there was also some metal and other shingles and things you can see there that actually came down from this building up this way. we're told this happened between two and three a.m. neighbors. describe a big sound. they heard something tearing off and then next thing you know they're coming out and looking, and there was a large fire presence here. they said that that roofing material actually hit a couple of cars, and one neighbor just told me a few minutes ago that they had to have two different ladders. come up and cut that piece off and the damau see, left behind. i in the lasto we've seen a couple of little downpours. and now just in the last five minutes we've seen mean the wind pick
