a storm surge is going to be the big concern, especially around fort myers, up to just south of tampa. we are expecting landfall today as that happens, the storm will weaken but still dumped inches upon inches of rainfall. the way up into areas like orlando pushing a little bit further northward. definitely weakening to tropical storm status as it moves inland. but really the big concern there is that storm surge of upwards of 9 feet likely over 10 feet from fort myers again, up through tampa. so the storm definitely going to be leaving a big impact out there across a whole lot of the bay area. now, what we do have right now is conditions out there on radar that are nice and dry for the bay area. futurecast shows that we are going to be holding onto these clear skies on to the rest of this forecast today. so that's not going to be an issue for us. this low to our west is scooting to the north of us cold front. that's going to be sliding on in. that's not going to do anything more then just keep us relatively cool. so today's daytime highs at or very warmest only going to be in the low

so i give you a play by play of exactly what happened that i making landfall just south of tampa wednesday afternoon and look at this during that last fall. those winds were sustained. 250 kilometers prior, so it was pretty much teetering on the brink of a category 5 storm and we saw a storm surge, 5 meters high. so those winds 250 kilometers per hour, literally picking up the ocean and shoving it further inland. so here's an example of that storm search. this is time lives video over the course of an hour, this street and some of those homes in the background just under water, and that will continue to play out as we head toward thursday. so let's track out where ian is right now, and not only is this a big wind event, it's going to be a large rain event. so north of orlando, i think we could pick up to about $500.00 millimeters of rain, half a meter of rain, or half a years worth of rain in the span of a few days. now, by friday in will weekend. it's now a tropical storm out into the advantage, and it's going to spread significant rain to that eastern side of georgia and south carolina.
