so i spent a lot of time in deep south texas in a community of latino women talking to them, and they were all college graduates. the men in their community are much less likely to be college graduates. talking to them about the impact that this has on their relationships. because there's, you know, this is still, there's still a fair amount of ma cheese mow, that the man should be the provider. and in some couples, um, you know, it was working out okay, but there's a lot of single motherhood down there. and i was talking to women lawyers and women teachers and psychologists saying, you know, we just go out together all the time. we go out dancing, and we have a good time together, us women. because the men don't approach us. the men don't come up to us. and so i interviewed another young woman who is a social worker, and her husband, her ex-husband -- [laughter] was also, um, involve inside social work. and her sali was -- salary was always a little bit above his. and he told her, i always felt like you were one step ahead of me, like you were pulling me along in my career, and he ul

one very happy couple in south texas, you know got married. she had a degree and a bachelor's degree and he had neither in part because young men feel like they have to get out of the workforce the workforce as soon as possible. they think of themselves as providers of the left college in order to take a low-paying job. she stayed in college and improved herself but then she inspired him. she said you know you have got to get that degree and i will facilitate it and help you. you will get through it because we are a team. and so it was really interesting seeing these -- we are ultimately very adaptive and i think we will adapt to this, to this new situation. there are going to be some transitional moments. >> host: many. the book is about women but you also talk to men. let's talk about what the men are saying. let's focus on the men right now because you talk so much about the women because men are who we love, we stand by. talk to me about the ones who are standing up with their women, accepting the change because of job situations for them

>> we have been looking at this on the my fox antonio website which is the newspaper in south texas and a number of other local affilliates are starting to pick this up that a third person in this devastating shooting this afternoon that happened at about 2:10 local time, 2:10 eastern, that a third person has died. the suspect that was transported to the hospital after being shot by officers when these gunshots rang out. we know a constable apparently went to carry out an eviction either to serve eviction paperwork at this residence about two blocks off the college -- or the texas a&m campus, and that is when the suspect apparently opened fire on the constable killing 41-year-old brian bachman, a certified peace officer since 1992. he was a county sheriff deputy a brazos county sheriff and elected to constable in january of last year. 41 years old. the constable, according to the police, is dead, a civilian is dead also caught up with the shooting. now we are hearing from reports that a third person, the actual suspecthat we know was taken to a local hospital. fox newschannel is trying

to mexico and accessing these unregulated pharmacies, when you talk to health care providers in south texas seeing women who have done that, the aftermath of self medicating to give themselves abortions, were health care providers describing that as something there's an uptick in, is it something they have always seen? >> it's hard to track the numbers on this just because not everybody reports when they have tried to use these pills. the health providers i talked to said that anecdotally, they have noticed in the last year or so, more women seem to be using alternate means of trying to have an abortion, whether that's taking herbal pills. a doctor told me last week that a woman chugged a six-pack of hot beer thinking it would make her throw up. there are women crossing the border or having their friends or family members get this medication for them so they can try it at home and try to self induce an abortion in the privacy of their own home. we only her about the reports. the public reports here because the abortion providers have told us that they're seeing this in their clinics. we don
