so i'm reading these stories from south texas newspapers and by 1925 that's only halfway through prohibition. there is no more stories out their smuggling liquor. they get wiped out by the texas rangers and about 20 get killed outright just going out. so just because those people were driven out of business doesn't mean the desire for alcohol ended. and there's other groups that basically filled the role. so they get wiped out in 1925 that's what i see after that are people that are smuggling liquor with trucks and automobiles. i found cases involving airplanes. there were several people who fought in world war i who actually downed enemy aircraft and become airborne bootleggers in the 1920s, 1930s and what i found thi is even though law enforcement was very aggressive in tackling these, the people who are smuggling using automobiles carry automatic weapons and on several occasions killed officers and a line of duty for the officers that were murdered were not killed by these guys in the brush country but they were killed by people driving automobiles who have seen the officer approached him
