this 113th and south van ness. and an active scene there. there is still 160 firefighters in 60 trucks on the scene as the firefighters continue to work on this fire and make sure that it doesn't reignite. there is a lot. we talked to the family that owns one of the businesses impacted by this. they sell lumber and other wholesale construction supplies. they had a lot of flammable supplies. they don't know how it started. but the business has been for 50 years and it has been destroyed. and five other commercial buildings in the area have been heavily damaged by the fire. but the froms set they have the fire 75% contained. the progress is visible in the live picture where we have shown you of the scene. no active flames or heavy black smoke. the firefighters will remain on the scene throughout the day. they'll have another update for us at 10:30 this morning. we'll continue to post the latest information on this fire online and our social media accounts. we'll have another update at noon today. >>> they'll be dumping water on that one. >>> m

fire first people from miles around san francisco could see the heavy smokcoming from 13th and south van ness which is where the fire star building that area. one of the heartfelt sales company marketing for over 70 years. we did speak with the owner's son early this morning. but overall this was a challenging firefight for firefighters. take a look. >> reporter: a massive plume of heavy smoke towered over san francisco at 6:30 am. it quickly grew to five alarms which meant 160 firefighters and 60 trucks rushed to the scene to tackle it. firefighters described a difficult firefight as the flames spread to six commercial buildings across a two block radius consuming by power poles and sending live wires into the street. >> when the first firefighters got here, you could not see your hand in front of your face . there was that much black smoke through this entire alleyway. now we have firefighters who could be electrocuted in firefighters who could be damaged or hurt falling debris. >> which they had transformers falling on the ground and had to back everybody up and repositioned as it was proc

again, the fire is still very much burning in the area of south van ness and erie street. these are the pictures we were able to bring you first things to a pewter that sent them to us. a look from brother way but it tells the picture of a whole lot of active orange flame on the bottom. a very thick dark column of smoke rising straight up in the air. a minute ago, c paulson said the winds are only 11 miles per hour in the area. that's what allows the smoke home to form the way that it is. that's why it's not being blown all across the city. it's essentially just rising up. this is affecting traffic on the bay bridge. this is affecting one-to-one and affecting certainly city streets in the area of south venice and erie street. and number of large businesses in the area. we saw sherwin williams and there is a couple of other big businesses, cosco etc. in the air. we're still trying to get a good read on how this fire started. but right now the number one concern -- and i know you have a lot of bodies in sf fire -- the number one concern is to protect people and property. hav

the reason for this transition is that 30 van ness was one of three assets that was sold and ordered to help finance the new one-stop permit center at 49 south van ness, which i'm pleased to say move in was started last week. so we're starting the process of occupying that building. d.p.h. was one of three units that were not scheduled to go to the 49 south van ness building because they're not permit center related. the solution then was to find new homes for those three units and new home for d.p.h. is 333 valencia. i agree with greg. i think this is a superior solution to their current home and also serves the departments quite well. the slide that you have in front of you is meant to convey two things. one, the deal points for the current deal which you will see on your right. and second, the pre-covid negotiating position that you will see on your left. consistent with the direction that we received from the board of supervisors, we have endeavored to negotiate 15% reduction in costs for any leases post covid. and we were successful in doing that in this case. pre-covid, you see the term has not changed. we're at initial term of 15 year
