you get wild dust storms in the desert south west. 88 degrees right now. that's in baltimore. hotter than that at bw i. stickier than that. gassers -- gaithersburg, hazy sunshine throughout the day. we'll take a look at some of the other spots. again, decent day, just hot, hazy and humid. no question about that. why not? how about down at camp springs today. the school of the arts and here things were definitely on the steamy and hazy side, too. not much in the way of showers and storms out there. ocean city is one of the acceptions. but, most of the states sitting dry. a few storms in new jersey. most of the activity is confined to maryland. it's 79 at the beach with the showers coming down. we have 84 in easton and closer to 90 in baltimore and d.c.. you can see the moisture levels high in deed. the dew points are up north of 70. that's uncomfortable and the heat index is reflecting that. all you need are temperatures into the 80s when you have this kind of humidity around. take a look, tomorrow, we'll hit 90 or so in locust point. hot, humid day and a good chance of afterno

part of a west baltimore row home collapsed this afternoon. it happened around 12:45 hit in south tarleton street. police blocked off the street as a precaution. fortunately, no one was in the building and so far no injuries were reported. investigators are trying to figure out what sparked a two alarm fire in sparrows po ints. they were met with flames shooting from a single family home. most of the damage was confined to the rear of the home and everyone made it out safely. there is no word on the cause. still no word on what started a fire that killed one person and injured an elderly woman in anne arundel county. the fire broke out at 1:30 yesterday in shore drive in edgewater. the 84-year-old was rushed to the burn unit with life- threatening injuries. the cause remains under investigation and officials have not released the name of the person who died in the fire. it was a lightning strike to a church that cause a fire in frederick county. it happened just before 5:00 a.m. this morning at the marvin united methodist church in the 5100 block of woodville road. one firefighter

south of baltimore. and it was once upon a time much further west and coming through howard county. now it's up here into northern anne arundel county. things are beginning to deteriorate. you can see what's out there to the immediate north and west. so you want to get off the water and get indoors for the next couple of hours mainly for lightning. could be gusty winds here too but the main concern is lightning. this will eventually push through the county and out over the open waters of the chesapeake. so sailors be out there as well. right now temperatures are hot but cooled down by the passing storm. 77 at bwi with the rain coming down. in most other spots where the rain has not come in yet. it's hot and sticky and hot down at the beach as well. these humidity numbers are high. and the high humidity levels around 50 or 60%. there is not a tremendous amount of storm action out there west of baltimore. but the storms we do have are pretty potent and again moving in south of the city right now. i will say that the overall pattern is actually being sparked by this boundary and trying

west, it is 70 degrees in oakland. there are showers and thunderstorms south of baltimore yesterday, and that cold front continues to make way off the shore. we had a low pressure associated with debt, which brought a couple of showers to the eastern shore throughout the morning. there is still an opportunity for showers through central virginia because the same front is in the vicinity. that front will be our weather maker through the next couple of days. we have more dry conditions in store, plenty of sunshine, and it is much less humid. we are expecting opera-80's, load-90's. it will get a couple of degrees warmer into the afternoon. temperatures will drop down into the 60's, with mostly clear skies for the night. as for the beach, there is still the potential for thunderstorms through the afternoon. we still have more thunderstorms possible tomorrow and as we get into friday. the front in the area will lift back to the north as a warm front. that will make things feel a little more unsettled. that is what we will deal with here in baltimore. the seven-day forecast -- today is dry. tomorrow, rain chances increase. if

west, there is some rain, but with this high pressure, it cannot move east. it is being pushed to the south. that will be the case said. rain chances just about nil. around baltimore, east of 61 on the boardwalk, -- parking, 59. elkton, 61. frederick, 55. 50's in the mountains out to the west. this is the satellite image. you can see this high pressure sitting here. it reaches down to the southeast. some rain trying to move in. this is like a rock in the stream of the answer. it cannot move east. it's the poorest to the south. things will change the venture. high pressure will break down and push further south and allow this storm system to move to the great lakes and moved in our direction. that will happen this weekend. the end of the holiday weekend will be different than what we're experiencing now. another terrific day today. mostly sunny with low humidity. northwest wind 5 to 10. 84 to 89 for the high. for boaters in the bay, a one-foot chop. a lack of rain until it saturday evening. some isolated rain could pop up around the mountains saturday night. rain chances are minimal on saturday. we will notice more cloudiness and humidity. the cold front approaches

over the past two hours, the rain has tapered off to the west and now the worst of the weather will be south and east of baltimore. yesterday's rain and today's heavy downpours produced phenomenal amounts of rainfall in some locations. these bull's-eye locations in baltimore county and downs in extreme northern anne arundel getting 5 inches of rain if not more in some locations. you can get some very heavy downpours and most of the region now showing up in this area, up to 3 inches of rain in the course of the past 24 hours or so. the national weather service continues to have flood watches any effect. the blue shaded area from the coast back to frederick county under the watch the evening hours. the baltimore-washington metro is under flood warnings. flooding is ongoing right now for small streams and creeks in low-lying areas. you could still have some damaging wind gusts. that little red box then area is a tornado warning of the new jersey. we are vulnerable to severe thunderstorms, heavy downpours, and some flooding at least 3 9:00. look like things will rapidly improve as we head for midnight. southern delaw

baltimore. and another storm pretty big, back towards cumberland, maryland or west of hagerstown, the area of rain i'm watching that will try to make its way to the southnd actually some thunderstorms will try to build down to the south and into portions of west virginia and northern portions of maryland. that storm, by the way, around the cumber land area in west virginia is severe. so we're watching out for those storms as they will make their way toward the region. but a better chance of storms tomorrow, as we have a couple frontal boundary, one to the south, one in south carolina and northern virginia, the others developing into portion positive of pennsylvania. we are stuck in the middle, but tomorrow they come over our region and that's why we have a flash flood watch in effect for the day tomorrow for just about the entire area. we are going to see the potential for some of that rain to be heavy at times, maybe 1 to 2 inches of rain an hour in some of those storms. so if you get one of those heavier storms, it will be downpours. tomorrow, or rather this evening, partly sunny, hot and humid. scattered storms, mostly to the north. some could be he

is out of the hospital and recovering tonight shooting happened last night after 11:30 in south west baltimore. brian kuebler joins us with more on how the police are investigating what happened. >> reporter: kelly, responding to a domestic violence call is dangerous. tonight, the police are looking into how a young officer got shot in the hip. >>> it started with a call for domestic violence. >> reporter: one of about 12,000 so far in the city. he showed up to handle the dispute and he was shot in the hip. further proof that domestic violence can be some of the more dangerous calls for the police. >> domestic violence affects the entire community. >> reporter: this woman with the house of ruth says that this violence has a ripple effect, becoming a combustible incident. in the height, if they're shooting and hitting, you can get in the way. that's when it's violent to more people. it's a situation where emotions are running high. >> reporter: all calls are dangerous. violence can be a powder keg often times. in this case, it's not clear if the shooting was related to the argument. detectives
