scenario four, a 25% chance, it goes into northeast maryland or southeast pennsylvania. this could be a disaster. 40 to 70-mile-per-hour winds, two to four inches of rain. this is generally the circle of where most of the damage would occur, and that would include pretty much the entire metro area. we haven't talked about it yet but it is possible in the mountains above about 2,000 feet west of the divide, and in the allegheny mountains north in pennsylvania they could even get some snow on the back side of this storm. that's the way it looks. again, scenario four not so good. any questions about the scenario? >> so a one in four chance of the scenario happening that we really don't want. when would you be able to tell us whether or not that's going to be a reality? >> i think when you have a tropical system, we're four days out still so just a question of monitoring it. i think we'll have a much better idea by sunday night, once it makes that turn to the west. if the cold front that's going try to merge with it, if the cold front is a little weaker and faster, it will p

i think one of the big problems house republicans are having particularly in western pennsylvania and southeasthio is mitt romney and particularly in new york, illinois and california where romney is going to lose by tremendous margin. he's really become a drag on the ticket. voters do not like he is and how sorcerer. his companies made a millions buying companies stripping them apart and throwing people off work and moving jobs overseas. he wants more tax breaks for millionaires like himself. this has become a major liability for candidates running in this area that suffers from the policies that encourage outsourcing like tax breaks for companies that ship jobs overseas. the other problem for mitt romney is we were mentioning about his personality, we don't ever know where he is on anything. he supported a tax plan for five trillion dollars in tax cuts and that in the debate it has disappeared and says he's never heard for tax breaks for companies that shift jobs overseas when he has benefited from them. the big problem for voters right now is the fact they see they don't like but they also d

pennsylvania. but a concerning thing, you see the wind from the southeast. that means we still are pushing water in towards parts of the new york harbor, as well as the water that comes down the long island sound. it doesn't have anywhere to go because of the geography, the way the coastline goes. so even though the storm-- the tide has gone down, we are headed towards low tide now. the water has moved in towards new york harbor and as well as the long island sound gets stuck in here. so when we get next high at 9:00 in the morning, we are likely going to see an additional round of flooding in lower manhattan. this is incredible. take a look at some of the pictures that have been here, into lower manhattan, just in the last couple of hours. this right here is the tunnel that connects lower manhattan to brooklyn, water has gone into that tunnel. it is flooded. take a look at the next picture we have. these are scenes from down in the lower east side of cars completely submerged. it is hard to imagine, this is water that has overflowed the banks of the hudson

southeast of charleston, south carolina. the wind gusts have increased to 90 miles per hour. washington, d.c., pennsylvania, maryland, virginia, new york and new jersey have all declared states of emergency already. in virginia, warships are tied up to their piers. sailors are getting sandbags prepared and national guard members are already in place and ready for action and along the jersey shore from cape may to ocean city, businesses are already boarding up and sandbagging getting ready for what sandy just might bring. so, further south now, north carolina, also gearing up for sa sandy. a total of 40 counties are under a state of emergency. george howell joins us from kill devil hills. sandy is quite a few miles offshore. we mentioned it's about 355 miles offshore from charleston, south carolina, but making it to your way. we can see the surface kicked up and lots of wind. what kind of preparations are under way there, george? >> fredricka, we are definitely feeling the winds pick up here. we're watching people as they, you know, prepare for whatever the storm has to bring. people are, you know, some peo

southeast by 650,000 votes, is pretty difficult to overcome that edge in other parts of the state, even if the republicans win that infamous t that we often refer to. the other point to remember about pennsylvania is that is dominated for the most part by one television market. there are six tv markets in the state, but philadelphia covers 40% of the voters of the state. all of delaware, which for our conversation is important, and the southern half of new jersey. in order to probably be effective in the television advertising business, a campaign -- you have to really advertise in philadelphia television market, which goes back to the lehigh valley, way out into the western, moving closer to such scope -- the susquehanna river. in lancaster county, you can get philadelphia television. other counties go right to the lehigh valley -- very important television market. to win pennsylvania, that is what democrats are able to do -- they did very well in the suburbs and lehigh valley. they won philadelphia and held on to pittsburgh and held there on in those counties out in southwestern part of the state that increasingly have voted republican in big elections. host: pennsylvania -- 20 electoral vote
