some of the snowfall is making its way around southeast virginia around norfolk, virginia beach. getting a light snow and hard to detect the pockets. a burst of snow to the north, as well. that's the story the next couple of days. the new story we are adding to this chapter of our weather the next couple of days is a wind advisory and not just a wind advisory but a wind chill advisory as winds pick up in speed tonight and these counties shaded here, wind chill values will be five to ten below zero this afternoon. and they are going to get even colder later on tonight. strong winds here as you can see 29-mile an hour wind gusts, 25 at frederick. when you look at the temperature and see how it factors in and plays a role here, the numbers look like this. 35 at reagan national. 30 gaithersburg. 34. when you factor in the winds in the 20s. for the most part across the country it has been staggering. we will be hearing about the cold no florida affecting those crops coming soon. nashville three below zero. there it is. you can see it. light snow is affecting areas of the great lakes.

if not, baltimore south, there will be some more snow and it looks like southeast virginia beating usn the snow and that may continue with the next event on thursday. now, the other thing to keep in mind is the temperatures. and i want to let brett know the temperature in atlanta georgia is 15. that's colder than here in central maryland. the cold air dives south and pushes east and we are locked in a few snow showers or flurries. a wind advisory with gusts up to 45 miles per hour. regardless of maybe reaching 29 as the two degree guaranteed, it will feel like the single digits and teens into the afternoon. 15 overnight. we will match atlanta's number by daybreak tomorrow with clearing skies and partly cloudy. maybe a flurry tomorrow with temperatures back to 30. now there's another shot of snow in the extended forecast. we will talk about that in a few minutes. right now let's talk about traffic with kim brown. >> reporter: this morning, traffic is off to a good start driving through anne arundel county. no issues on route 50 or i-97 this morning. there are wind warnings in place at

richmond and norfolk southeast virginia, they are actually in par with us this morning at 20 and they are 21 norfolk. roanoke 19. and some of these places have a few shots of snow. and i mention that because this is going to be a unique pattern where there may be more snow to the south than we get here over the course of the next week. wind chills down into the single digits in some spots and as we watch a quiet pattern, we are dry. the satellite shows clear skies as well. so we should have a lot more sunshine for today. overall weather pattern looks very interesting watching the jet stream diving down through south florida and then off the coast. what's interesting is when you get the cold shots pushing off the eastern seaboard, you get the cloud line mimicking the coastline. this is ocean effect clouds and showers well out off the atlantic and out of our radar scope. we are watching back to the west. this day in the cloud to the south, that's really tapping into the cold blast and that will actually be the mark of the next system that will ride a southern track south of baltimore. w

flames in the rush hour but no problems for the rush hour but we are seeing the few flakes in southeast virginiand mighty cold. at least the wind is gone, bring on the snow, thank you for getting rid of the wind because that has been annoying. want to show you the winter- weather advisory, if you are watching in the earlier newscast, these advisories came up to about charles county, and tonight national weather service took a look and decided it would be in the best interest of all of us to be aware that there will be enough snow to cause problems even into the metro area so in fairfax and randall was added. that is for the likelihood of enough snow to coat the ground, one maybe two inches for some of you. down to the south, there is a winter storm warning in that purple color and more down there where the jackpot is, we will be on the northern edge of the snow. you might get into frederick and you're not in the winter- weather advisory that begins at ten in the morning. some towards the mason-dick online may not get enough to cover the ground. it will just give us a glancing blow but it is the
