this is the family room in the gibson home here in southeast washington. these are the call numbers from brian gibson's squad car that he was driving the night he was killed 20 years ago. brian gibson had returned from serving in the united states marine corps overseas and joined the dc police department. a man who wanted to hurt dc police walked up from behind and shot him to death in his squad car. his mother shirley gibson, as a way to cope with the loss of her son, decided to start cooking his favorite meal for his comrades at the police station. that was 20 years ago. back here live gibson's home, this is what it has turned into. a massive operation. 16 turkeys, volunteers from church groups, neighbors, and shirley gibson's family comes up from south carolina to help. they expect as many as 400 police officers to show up here today. and joining me right now is shirley gibson. ms. gibson, this will be the last time you have -- >> this is our final time, mark. >> reporter: and you consider all these police officers -- >> my sons and daughters. these are
