also the same goes for you in southeastern china. of tropical activity down in southeastern asia from the philippines through indonesia up into indo-china and even up into southwestern china as well. some of these areas picked up more than 100 millimeters of rain in the last 24 hours. flooding and landslides are not out of the question. but looking a whole lot better for central areas of china, especially along the yangtze river, where they have been dealing with ongoing flooding and landslide problems. let's take a look at your temperatures, then. very, very hot conditions in parts of china. 37 degrees in chongqing. 34 in shanghai. and reaching 36 in beijing. but tokyo's going to be 34. slightly cooler than yesterday. but many areas are going to be exceeding 30 degrees today. let's head to europe. we have a new system that's moving into the british isles. it's going to be the case of occasional rain for scotland. quite breezy near the center of the storm, as well. but much calmer with brighter spells down in england. that system is

in the next three days, we'll watch that really heavy rain impact southeastern china and northern vietnam. we could be seeing heavy rains to come. of course, that follows all the rain we saw last week. a big area of concern here. china will also have to deal with a tropical depression off the central coast here. low pressure system in the north. that all combined will bring a lot more rain to northeastern portions and down through central china, inland areas of china all looking at a lot more rain. the heavy stuff falling in the north right now. central china, of course, really can't handle any more rain. very saturated area. there has been serious flooding problems. here's a look at some of the latest we've got coming out. this is the dam in hubei province. they're trying to reducing water levels. flooding widespread across a lot of central provinces. the death toll starting to rise. 23 is the death toll from the weekend alone. in total, this rainy season, the death toll starting to approach 150. very, very dangerous and serious situation. any additional rainfall will not be good news. t

so still on that path for southeastern china, aiming for the gulf of tonking, or rather the northernide. gusts are up over 140 kilometers per hour. there are some pretty strong gusts associated with the system. but there's also that rain we're really concerned about. rain already starting to affect areas like the hainan island, parts of guangdong province. but in the coming days we're going to see that really heavy rain area move all the way in toward even northern vietnam. so areas here expecting to pick up a lot more rain in the days to come. not good news as it's already been pretty well saturated here from that previous storm last week. now, china has been dealing with quite a bit of rain and central areas continuing to see those showers. nothing too heavy today, but already very, very saturated ground here, of course. so any additional rainfall, no matter how light, is not good news. northern china and into parts of the korean peninsula looking to pick up on more heavier showers today. perhaps isolated areas looking at more heavy rain to fall. japan stays largely in the dry alth

here, all the way back into southeastern russia and northeastern china. look at heavy showers as well. much of central china looking good. the rain is weakening somewhat along the yangtse river. the tropical depression continuing to pump in a lot of heavy rain and into the okinawa islands of japan as well. areas to the south and south southeastern asia will experience heavy thundershowers over the next 24 hours into indochina. this will lead to a southwestern monsoon. you can see some of the figures easily exceedingly 100 millimeters across parts of vietnam and ty landhailathailan. watch out for landslides. 30 degrees in hong kong. 34 in tokyo. beijing at 35 for your daytime high. let's head to north america. we're watching some severe thunderstorms to erupt tonight across central canada and into the northern plains of the usa today. anything from thunderstorms to tornadoes are possible. and then also down in the southeast, you can see lots of heavy rain developing here. that will help to cool things down in the area on your tuesday. across the midwest, l
