people in southeastern china have been dealing with this now. me show you a video and the conditions. as you can see, heavy downpours since monday morning have triggered extensive landslides and flooding. officials said that more than 2,000 people were affected and over 10,000 were displaced. hundreds of houses were severely damaged. and unfortunately, conditions could get worse as rain is expected to linger throughout the day in the similar regions across southeastern china. you can see all this rain coverage. it looks like it's going be tapering off. it looks like we're going to be seeing about 50 millimeters of additional rain on top of what we already had. in gaung dang province, 150 millimeters. the ground is well saturated. so further flooding from these, any kind of additional rain will be upping the risk. and also landslides as well as mud slides. to the north of that, high pressure systems will cover, dominating much of central regions as well as northern china. and temperatures will be above norm, especially mongolia. we'll take a look

heavy rain is coming down across southeastern china. people have been killed.ands of people have been evacuated due to landslides and flooding. unfortunately, there is more rain on the way. you could be seeing an additional 100 millimeters in the next 24 hours. the ground is already very well saturated. additional rain will certainly raise the potential for flooding as well as landslides. and it looks like rain is not going any where. rain will likely continue for the next couple of days. the reason for the rainy weather is the stalled it frontal line. this is the rainy season. the system is effecting taiwan as well as indochina peninsula. and rain will persist across the area over the next couple days. towards the north, looking dry for the north half of china as well asmon goal yeah, but whet and windy conditions will continue in china as well as russia throughout the day. the eastern half of japan will see scattered rain and rain could become intense and thunderstorms are possible this afternoon. but the western half of japan will see plenty of sunshine. tem

we continue to linger here over there towards the west, southeastern, china. it looks like a lot of showers continuing to fall. a few areas could be seeing up to about 150 millimeters. so really a risk of flooding we have been seeing out here. as far as temperatures, that rainy season is keeping the clouds in the sky. if you look just toward the north, beijing, hong kong as well. hot and muggy for you. sunny skies overhead, but don't be surprised due to that heat throughout the day if we do get a pop up thunderstorm or so. let's look over toward the americas. thunderstorms. we just have that low pressure continuing to linger over the central plains. this is bringing all sorts of moisture. and you see these lines very close together. that is indicating strong winds continuing to flow in. that upper level jet would cause a negatively tilted jet. it is enhancing the storms and making them quite strong, and there is still a risk of a large tornado, up to baseball side, and you could be seeing straight line winds over 100 miles per hour. especially if you're in iow

but rain is coming down for southeastern china once again. heaviest rain is going to be found here. 100 millimeters likely into the next 24 hours. the heavy rain will move into the northeast into tomorrow. meanwhile, we can see another point showing up in bangladesh. this is where we've seen heavy rain. heavy rain will continue here throughout the day and wet weather their continue throughout the next several days. scattered rain for the indochina peninsula. extremely hot in beijing where they have 30 degrees. warm in seoul with 25. and tokyo cooling down to 18 degrees. that's about 7 degrees colder than what we saw on monday. okay. north america, a slow moving system is drifting toward the north over the eastern u.s. underneath it, heavy rain. heavy rain is coming down in virginia. an additional 80 millimeter is likely, which is quite a lot for this region. so we have flood warnings and watches posted in this area. this system is expected to move towards the north. as it does so, warm air will flow in from the south and that will help temper

southeastern china, you're getting a little break.re was several landslides reported there in hong kong. on friday you can expect up to 50 to 100 millimeters of rainfall. saturday it will be upwards of 200 millimeters expected. that's when you'll start to see precipitation going into sunday. another round of weather and off towards japan by early next week, this system will push in. for now, the weekend looking like rather decent weather across much of korea and extending here towards japan. temperatures here in tokyo, 26, and rain showers. hong kong you're getting a break from the bulk of the activity. let's look at america. the big topic here is the continuation of the severe weather. we have that low pressure pushing off toward the northeast, yesterday. it is into the ohio river valley. still a severe weather threat is here. to new england you will see heavy showers, but there's a new threat area, and that is really the threat that we saw earlier in the week. here in northern texas, western oklahoma. the main threat is large hail,

especially down towards southeastern china.y next week it will impact you to korea and across most of japan here as it pushes off toward the east. saturday and sunday into tokyo, you will see partly cloudy skies. there is the risk of an afternoon thunderstorm. tropics still afternoon thunderstorms for you as well. let's take a look towards europe though and really, the topic here is just messy across the most of europe. we have several low pressure areas that are continuing to rotate here along the western peripheral. you have a blocking high, and it's just keeping all of this foul weather out here. in some areas it's causing some flooding. i want to show you this video from norway. up to 250 people were evacuated due this flooding river and a mud slide there. many people had to be forced out, and as you 1993 this footage, just absolutely incredible. many homes continue to be flooded here and roads washed out. unfortunately conditions are still persisting here throughout the next several days. the heavier stuff farther towards

however, drenching rain are expected to continue for the rest of southeastern china. we're talking an additional 100 to 150 millimeters of rain to fall into this evening. more heavy rain coming down afterwards. the risk of landslides as well as flooding is getting higher and conditions are cite critical across southern china for a while. but over the weekend, looking drier through many areas but the southeast coast will be on alert for heavy rain into the weekend. heavy rain also coming down in bangladesh and northeaster india and looking dry for the northern half of china and mongolia and korean peninsula and japan and this is bringing air to much of the country and temperatures will be on the warmer side. for example, in kyoto, our high, is expected to be 28 degrees for you with lots of sunshine. still looking at 20 degrees. there's no mark of rain, however, rain may start tonight. 22 in beijing and warm in lumpur with a high of 18 degrees. north america, lots of heavy rain and thunderstorms are occurring across the u.s. from the west to the east. lots of things are

this is not the first time we have been hearing about floods this week in southeastern china. well, it's not just the rain that's the problem here. really severe storms have been interrupting as well. there was a tornado in hunan province. on tuesday, in fact. more than ten residents were injuries. landslides were also reported in the area damaging several homes, and most of the province has been hit by heavy rains this week, and it doesn't like like there will be any respite any time soon. you can see an additional 250 millimeters of rain in the next 24 hours. we have another severe storm now, a tornado that erupted in texas. it wasn't just one isolated tornado, there was a few of them. grandbury is the one we showed you earlier. it was a mile wide and a deadly tornado that claimed six lives. many, many, many more people injured. unfortunately we're not out of the woods yet. this storm system is moving to the east, and we have another coming in from the rockies to the west. and a severe area there. you can expect storms from out west in the rockies right to the atlantic coast

over 50 to 100 millimeters across southeastern china. the past day alone has seen up to 300 millimeters of rain. bangladesh into eastern india, monsoon flow has been hitting them hard. and a severe risk of flooding. the worst in the situation we're eyeing on a low-pressure area here that very well possibly can push off towards the north, develop into a sicyclone, and bring you more wet weather. so we will keep your eye on that. across tropics, temperatures in the 30s here, looking at rainshowers and thunderstorms in the afternoon hours. hong kong and taipei will be tapering off. by next week it will start to come back around with more rain in tokyo as well. 23 for your high here on your saturday. let's look toward the americas, though. the severe weather is really the big topic here. we saw a report for a possible tornado just outside of new orleans pushing but there a band of severe weather. a risk of more tornadoes, also seeing the possibility of hail and nearly 100 kilometer per hour winds. that will push off through the northeast. be

back towards the west we have this next area there in southeastern china, which is the rainy season boundary, bringing widespread precipitation. upwards of 50 millimeters from taiwan, into western china. a few isolated areas could see up to 200 millimeters. this is not going to be helping matters. there is still the threat for further flooding and landslides out of this rainy song. chongqing with a high of 23. 24 toward shanghai. beijing you're not part of that rainy season right now so this is going to be seeing some sunny skies for you and temperatures pushing into the mid 30s. let's talk about the tropics. just off the coast of mexico, this is tropical storm barbara. the second storm of the season out here in the eastern pacific. some hurricane warnings and wrachs now in effect along the southern portions of mexico as that's expected to push john shore and further intensify just reaching there to that hurricane intensity. wind speeds right now around 100 kilometers per hour. this is going to be making rough waves during the coastlines but also bringing some heavy rainfall. that's going to

down into southeastern china we have been talking about all week this persistent stationary boundary which has been lingering. in the past 24 hours alone here on your wednesday, in one portion of guangdong province you've seen upwards 2600 millimeters of rain. needless to say that's causing risk of some flooding because still more is in the forecast as this front does continue to linger. eventually though it is going to continue to push off towards the east but really there is the flood threat here. now with this though we have that warm air coming up but that front is going to eventually start to lift off toward the east. behind it high pressure is ridging in. by the weekend things in china are going to start to really warm up. take a look at some of these temperatures. beijing, you're going to be getting up above 30 degrees here on your saturday and sunday. average typically around 26. chongqing as well. even shanghai. most of the weekend it is going to be absolutely baking across much of eastern china. some sunny skies in place once that front decides to move off there towards the

this rainy season front lingering across much of southeastern china, taiwan toward the southern japanese islands. you'll still be seeing some rainfall here. just in the past 24 hours alone an absolutely staggering number out of macao, just outside of hong kong. upwards of 705 million meters of rainfall has fallen here. in the past few hours alone you've seen three to four centimeters of rain. you need some relief an thankfully you will get some relief. the front will drift toward the south and east. okinawa you'll still get showers thursday into friday but over here where you need clearer weather it is going to start to work in. unfortunately by the end of the weekend another low will start to work in and that's going to bring another shot of wet weather by the beginning of next week. off towards the north, rather fair across much of northeastern china, over towards korea and over into japan. temperatures into the high 20s and low 30s. actually well above average into shanghai. you're getting up to 27 as well and into the tropics, just those afternoon thunderstorms you typically get here

let's extend back towards the west, because into southeastern china, much of eastern china as well, we're also seeing that rainy season boundary. this is bringing in some, well, rather high totals, along the yangtze river basisen local areas could see up to 250 millimeters in the forecast. flooding is going to be a high risk here. we've seen numerous reports of flooding in the last several days. it still will be pushing on here, and also a possibility of some mudslides, as that continues overhead. let's look far back to the west. we're talking about the tropics, and a different type of monsoonal weather. this will possibly drift off to the west. don't expect it to develop further into a named system, but it is bringing heavy rainfall, extending down there are myanmar, but it's kicking off the rainy season front that we've been talking about. that is down here into the bay of bengal right now, may 27th, by early june, that southwest monsoon will start to kick in, and that is really going to be bringing in some heavy rainfall, but also thankfully cooling off the temperatures for you there a

right now southeastern china's getting a break from the action. you can see that cloud cover coming out of the west. that is the next low-pressure area that first will affect chongqing on friday. then it's going to push off towards the northeast and bring about 250 millimeters of rainfall as well over towards shanghai. much of central and north eastern china. so this is going to be bringing the risk of flooding and even landslides as it continues to push overhead. even the tail end will develop showers near coastal areas towards the south. we want to continue to watch that. by next week very well could affect much of mainland japan. for now, like i said, partly cloudy skies across much of the region. don't be surprised if you do see an isolated thunderstorm pop up here, especially due to the afternoon and daytime heating but nothing at all widespread. let's take a look over toward the americas. widespread showers for the memorial day weekend across much of new england. if you have any barbecue plans out here towards the northeast or you're going o

behind it, there in southeastern china, over the past week, you have just been getting pounded by heavy rain. macaw on wednesday, up to seven centimeters fell throughout the day into hong kong. 15 reports of landslides occurred there. and also the hong kong observe story, the weather office there, issued the highest warning level in three years, up to black warning level there. definitely you do not need any more rain thankfully on thursday going through friday. there is a break in the activity here. that front's drifting farther towards the south and east, but it is the rainy season, and it doesn't last very long. by the time the end of the weekend rolls around, another low-pressure area is starting to work over the west. push off towards the east and just bring another shot of showers with it. it also is cooling things off, too. in beijing, you've been above average for your temperatures. it's going to cool back down into the lower portions of the 20s by the end of the week. and as far as the korean peninsula and over towards tokyo, also looking at temperatures there into the high 20s

again, the system is targeting the korean peninsula as well as southeastern part of china. as we go into the next 24 hours, it's going to move toward the east. western japan, you could see showers. the eastern half of japan is looking try today but wet weather their be coming in on wednesday. now across the west and eastern china, we' see a nice respite of rainy weather today. i hope you will enjoy the dry weather. four, a new system had form over southwestern china. that's going to be working its way ease over the next couple of days. somewhere else we have been monitoring is the bay of bengal. a stubborn system has been with you providing wet weather. additional rain is not welcomed. temperatures down to 24 in tokyo. and overcast and 23 in seoul. and scorching hot in chongqing, 32 degrees for you. we could see a tropical storm soon. and towards the north, a dynamic storm system is still affecting the mississippi valley. unfortunately, the severe weather will likely continue for the similar area into your wince. rain is going to be a big concern as well. that could raise t

china. that will be moving in towards the southeastern region with more to come and we had rain in the guangdong province and a lot of the area has seen 100 millimeters and 50 to 100 millimeters will be likely in the next 24 hours even though we don't want any more additional. across japan is expecting afternoon thunderstorms. some could be on the severe side but the main threat is hail gusts and also frequent lightning. tokyo will start to see the thunderstorms scattering across the area, possibly around 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. hours with temperature reaching 25 degrees. scorching hot in bangkok at 38 degrees. towards north america, we have been talking about the heat across the west and north really heavy rain battering ontario. towards the south, the mid-leak states where we will probably see strong thunderstorms in the course of the day and super cell thunderstorms could be ignited in northern texas due to the clash of the two big masses. oklahoma city at 26 degrees, houston at 29. san francisco at 17 degrees. eureka, you're only down to 13 for your high, well below your average. here's our e
