people in southeastern china have been dealing with this now. me show you a video and the conditions. as you can see, heavy downpours since monday morning have triggered extensive landslides and flooding. officials said that more than 2,000 people were affected and over 10,000 were displaced. hundreds of houses were severely damaged. and unfortunately, conditions could get worse as rain is expected to linger throughout the day in the similar regions across southeastern china. you can see all this rain coverage. it looks like it's going be tapering off. it looks like we're going to be seeing about 50 millimeters of additional rain on top of what we already had. in gaung dang province, 150 millimeters. the ground is well saturated. so further flooding from these, any kind of additional rain will be upping the risk. and also landslides as well as mud slides. to the north of that, high pressure systems will cover, dominating much of central regions as well as northern china. and temperatures will be above norm, especially mongolia. we'll take a look

we continue to linger here over there towards the west, southeastern, china. it looks like a lot of showers continuing to fall. a few areas could be seeing up to about 150 millimeters. so really a risk of flooding we have been seeing out here. as far as temperatures, that rainy season is keeping the clouds in the sky. if you look just toward the north, beijing, hong kong as well. hot and muggy for you. sunny skies overhead, but don't be surprised due to that heat throughout the day if we do get a pop up thunderstorm or so. let's look over toward the americas. thunderstorms. we just have that low pressure continuing to linger over the central plains. this is bringing all sorts of moisture. and you see these lines very close together. that is indicating strong winds continuing to flow in. that upper level jet would cause a negatively tilted jet. it is enhancing the storms and making them quite strong, and there is still a risk of a large tornado, up to baseball side, and you could be seeing straight line winds over 100 miles per hour. especially if you're in iow

this is not the first time we have been hearing about floods this week in southeastern china. well, it's not just the rain that's the problem here. really severe storms have been interrupting as well. there was a tornado in hunan province. on tuesday, in fact. more than ten residents were injuries. landslides were also reported in the area damaging several homes, and most of the province has been hit by heavy rains this week, and it doesn't like like there will be any respite any time soon. you can see an additional 250 millimeters of rain in the next 24 hours. we have another severe storm now, a tornado that erupted in texas. it wasn't just one isolated tornado, there was a few of them. grandbury is the one we showed you earlier. it was a mile wide and a deadly tornado that claimed six lives. many, many, many more people injured. unfortunately we're not out of the woods yet. this storm system is moving to the east, and we have another coming in from the rockies to the west. and a severe area there. you can expect storms from out west in the rockies right to the atlantic coast
