the heavy rain in southeastern massachusetts. right now, you can see it is getting organized south of long island, and we have a steadier rain pushing through a good portion of the area. it really is light rain in most areas, darker greens and yellows showing up with pockets of moderate downpour. it looks like lighter rain is falling, 77 degrees, but wow is it humid. a very muggy start. rain tapers off. the skies they brighten up more to the west of town when we jump up into the 80's. he stay in the 70's, rain continuing. notice as we get toward lunchtime, the rain tapers off, continuing with heavy downpours right through the afternoon and crosses the south coast, where the rain may exceed half an inch. any rain is welcome; we will get a nice start to the weekend, high-pressure nosing in, sun and clouds. , by sunday we are watching this area of low pressure which will keep more showers around as we go into sunday and monday. you can see temperatures a little cooler, with more clouds then showers, especially in the first half, but

the area of rain will shift into southeastern massachusetts. abnormally dry there, moderate to severe drought. our rainfall deficit near 6.5 inches in boston and over we have a flash flood watch. we may see downpours that could lead to localized poor drainage flooding so that is a concern this morning and this afternoon. what we're watching is an area of low pressure. it will track to the south as it heads out to sea to bring that rain threat to everyone but as we get towards mid-day and early afternoon you can see a lot of these thunderstorms in the waters to the south, and they are associated with that low, and they are going to lift massachusetts so that is the concern at lunchtime and early this afternoon. right now we have a steadier, lighter rain falling across a good portion of the area. we'll soak in it as long as we can. steady rain, and you can see the darker green. it gets heavier, metro west and worcester county, and as you head north, you run into the yellows. this indicating the heavier downpours, and everything moving slowly. we

so this has been the fricky forth -- tricky part of the southeastern massachusetts, cape and the islands from late tonight into tomorrow evening. for this rainfall expected. i'm showing you a different forecast model than i showed you a half hour ago, this is our most recent forecast model. this shows it's the band of heavy rainfall slides any farther to south as it does here, then see spotty scattered showers, scattered storm activity tomorrow. we still have the potential though if the some heavy rainfall. the atmosphere is going to be very primed for dumping heavy rainfall and so you need the extra lift to squeeze out the wet sponge. how much rainfall can we expect in quarter to half inch north of the mass pike and even southern new hampshire could miss out on this completely. your better shot at heavier rainfall 1-2 inches even the potential for up to 4 inches of rain will be along the south coast of new england finance. the scattered activity. boomers expected. >> maybe some strong and those boomers could produce 1-2 inches of rainfall rates per hour. that is a huge problem for us be
