so it's not just southern california. it is also the bay area that is right here in the midst of these high wind advisories for us until 10:00am. so we're right on the tail end of this strong offshore wind event. it will last a bit longer for southern california. neighbors and with containment. nothing close to anywhere progress made for a lot of these fires. this is a scary situation down south wind gusts still very breezy, not as windy as we were just a couple of hours ago. so we're already starting to see that calming process. and you can see that by the time we work our way through the day, we're going to be finishing the day. nice and calm. so it is gradual coming for us. very welcome. change of pace, 40's to 50's for our current temps, oakland at 57 petaluma and the battle at 48 degrees right now. little bit chilly in fairfax at 39. now today is going to start windy and calmer. that is definitely the good news for us for southern california. it's going to take longer to get there and we'll keep you updated on that.

our air quality is very good compared to southern california. of course, there's a lot of smoke from that for them. it's moving southward because of those northerly winds. it's pushing southward right down to baja, california and out to sea. so so far we're protected more or less from some of that smoke. but we do have our own wind gusts up to 50 miles per hour with this wind advisory. you can see these colors just lighting up. magenta isn't reds and yellows and oranges that shows the areas of strongest wind and even overnight looks like we're going to see some strong winds even in the santa cruz mountains. so we're looking for is raining not on this, not in this for future cast. what we're seeing is just the continued offshore flow of winds. here's area of low pressure cut off from the jet stream that moved out of off to sea. but it also serves to strengthen the tightened that pressure gradient, which is what causes the winds to really well. so we're just seeing dry, dry, dry conditions. and that will continue for quite some time. stephanie. kat

wildfires in southern california. take a look at all the smoke that is coming in from these fires, from the wildfires that are burning there, and it's moving out over the ocean here. so right now it is not coming into the bay area, but that is going to change. they do have air quality alerts until tomorrow night. i suspect this will get extended when you take a look at the air quality there. it is not good. orange is indicating poor for sensitive groups. red is unhealthy air across the region. so we're going to look at the smoke forecast in the upper parts of the atmosphere. while it generally stays right around southern california and over the pacific ocean. watch what happens heading into tomorrow afternoon. some of that smoke starts to come in in the upper layers of the atmosphere, towards the southern part of our viewing area. it's not going to translate down to the surface initially, but this is where it's coming in. that could change. you know that that has happened before. so just keep that in mind. if you are

upping fire danger for southern california. more of just interruption to an otherwise beautiful day for us here at home. we are seeing winds regularly gusting into the 30 to 40 mile per hour range. we do have high wind advisories for the northern part of the bay area in our upper elevations. wouldn't be surprised to see a few more advisories popping up. these are in effect from this morning all the way through tomorrow morning as that wind event will continue, especially overnight tonight as that low passes right past us. and with that southern california is actually expecting the strongest winds down south tonight into tomorrow morning. look at how much of the la metro area is lit up in yellow, orange and red. this is areas with extreme fire. danger pairing of those dry winds. all the dry grass and brush that we have down there as well as the very low humidity. so scary situation for la. absolutely. still offshore winds will carry smoke away from the coastline. so no major smoke impacts, especially not for us in the bay area.
