and southern china will see these figures throughout your weekend. at least into your saturday.ase watch out for heat stroke. here across the u.s. we're looking at some icy conditions which have caused havoc in traveling. especially in eastern canada. we have some pictures coming up from ontario today. a massive highway pileup involving over 50 vehicles occurred on wednesday at a highway in trenton, ontario. most are large tractor-trailers getting caught up in icy conditions during the overnight hours. aerial images show these trucks piled up for miles, blocking the highway. four people were injured but none were life-threatening. icy conditions this time of the year are often a result of flash freezing when water pools up on the highway in the day but freezes during the overnight hours. looks like we're looking at another snowstorm. so the navigation will be very difficult on highways again and even in parking lots. we have these lines very close to each other, meaning that the winds will be very strong. about 80 kilometers per hour. and the snowfall amounts in the canadian mar

myanmar says it is targeting rebels in the kokang region along china's southern border. >> fighting began in the kokang region more than a month ago. more than 100 people killed but this latest incident was serious enough for chinese air force to say it is stepping up operations along the border. summon the myanmar ambassador so he could launch oformal protest. he said he would like myanmar to investigate the incident, punish whoever was responsible for the intrusion into chinese territory. this latest air strike comes about a week after a shell from myanmar landed in its territory. it does suggest there is heavy bombardment in the area. the kokang region has been in the state of emergency since mid february so there are few independent reports coming out thereof but these reports suggest there is very heavy fighting going on this this area. this is not the first time that fighting in myanmar spilled out into china. there was fighting between myanmar and kochin fighters. this will make china increasingly worried because it does not want to deal with a refugee problem and it will complicat

china routinely is 20 times beyond what we consider healthy. if you're watching us in southern, it has the distinction for poor air quality. but if you put los angeles and put it in china, the air quality would be the cleanest air. in beijing, it exceeds the hazardous category. there's the hue river. 500 million people live in this region of china. we know the population is quite high, but an accidental experiment took place from 1950 to 1980 as the chinese government provided free coal to people north of that line. this happened and we know since then, we've seen the rates as far as pollution levels up 55% across that northern tier of the country. you take a look, studies are finding that pollution across that portion of the world, cutting life expectancy by 5 1/2 years. so it becomes a life threatening scenario, and lung cancer rates have doubled since 2002 in this region, and the number of smokers in beijing has dropped. warm air aloft acts as a lid, so it puts all the pollution down at the surpass and keeps it there. then we get stuck in these patterns in this portion of th
