but close enough to spread rain during the day for southern delaware and south jersey.e inland you can see clouds over philadelphia. but look at the breaks in the cloud. these are the neighborhoods that will see some sunshine. but tomorrow there's a chance we'll see some of these scattered showers in the area. they will be light, and it's not going to be an all day thing. but the clouds today, that's going to be an all day affair with temperatures in the 40s in philadelphia and warming in the suburbs. any sunshine this morning will disappear this afternoon for the suburbs. partly cloudy skies in the lee high valley. southern delaware you'll see those rain showers and dry for most neighborhoods inland for new jersey, but the chances of showers will linger at the shore with gusty winds today. take a look at the timing of the snow tomorrow and how much you can expect when i'm back in ten minutes. so far so good this morning. nothing in the way of major backup, but still early. >>> yeah, let's check 95. >> i want to start with the majors. this is 95 right at the state line.

glenn, you've got the totals for southern delaware and new jersey. >> yeah, tammy, it's one of those backwards storms, as we call them, where southern and eastern portions of the area get the most snow and areas north and west get the least amount of snow. which is kind of backward, because normally places like reading and allentown will get a lot more than the jersey shore. but in this case we're talking 8 to 10 inches. locally higher from sussex county, delaware, through cape may county, atlantic county, ocean county. the bulk of the storm, 4 to 8 inches across the i-95 area and then it drops off as we head toward the north and west. now, let's get a little more specific into our computer models showing close to 10 inches in cape may and also atlantic city, hammenton, vineland, morris river, bridgeton and then it really drops down as you head closer to i-95. about 5 inches in south harrison. now, as we head into delaware, that's the other area that's going to get hit pretty hard with this. some areas could get close to 10 inches of snow out of it. that would be more likely in sussex

getting ready to clear southern delaware. there are additional showers that may bug you down the shore. we look outside, the rester of us are dry, cloudy skies, you'll see sunny breaks, you'll wind up mostly cloudy overall. temperatures above average today, but not as mild as yesterday. let's get you the out the door numbers, 34 degrees in allentown. close to the freezing mark and definitely coat weather up there. 39 in trenton. we slid to 42 in philadelphia. 43 in wilmington, 43 in millville. 41 out door in cape may. here's the additional showers, right now we're getting a clearing, you can see some stuff that's placed farther to a westerly latitude or longitude i should say, that is going to potentially still pass through areas like southern delaware and down along the coast in the morning and into the afternoon. in the lehigh valley, dry, breezy, 47 degrees under a lot of clouds today. at the shore, cloudy and breezy, 44. the farther south you go along the coast, the better chance of seeing a shower around. in philadelphia

we're staurgrting to see all of this snow ready to kiss southern delaware.his is moving out of south carolina into north carolina. let's track the progression of it up the coastline. you can see, here we go. by the time we get into early tomorrow morning it's already across the area. your morning commute looks like it's a bit of a mess. these darker shades of blue, that's where the heavier snow will fall. if you're in the lehigh county, berks county, it looks like you will see the least amount of snow. you know what, we are closely tracking this storm because a 50-mile difference in the path either way will mean a big difference in how much snow you see. talking about snow totals is my colleague and good friend, glenn "hurricane" schwartz. you have those nailed down for all the neighborhoods, right, glenn? >> right, tammy. we are expecting, again, quite a difference between the amount of snow and the areas north and west and the areas at the shore. there's also going to be more wind at the shore. the snow will start earlier at the shore. it's going to end la

blizzard conditions expected in southern delaware and the jersey shore. later on today, blowing snow and bitter cold to follow. look at the snow falling right now in philadelphia. that's fairly light snow in philadelphia and even lighter in some of the suburbs though in the lehigh valley and there's a band of some more moderate snow. the heaviest snow is going to be in delaware and south jersey closer to the coastline. this is an ocean storm system so the closer you are to the storm, the heavier for the precipitation. we've already gotten reports from southern delaware and five inches of snow on the ground and more than two inches in parts of south jersey. and it is just getting started. the temperatures stay cold. the snow is going to stay on the ground. with a look at delaware and south jersey, what you can expect neighborhood by neighborhood. >> so let's get right to it and talk about those conditions outside. this is in atlantic city and you can see that snow is already starting to blow around a bit this morning and that's going to be the case right o

and there's a little bit in central and southern delaware, too. there maybe a little bit more this afternoon there, but we're not expecting any real significant accumulations. the poconos up to 8 irchss, new tip poly and the lehigh vaefl each with 4 inches. then as you go toward the suburbs, philadelphia suburbs generally 1 to 3, and farther to the west, west less than 1. so tart philadelphia airport just a trace of snow. 29 degrees in philly. the temperature's going down, visibility of course getting better, and we're seeing the same thing in most areas. but look at these temperatures. mid-20s even in parts of delaware already. so the cold air is moving in and, of course, the temperature is critical. it's 29 philly international, 31 in port richmond, 30 in bus whe will ton. the temperature was 32, 33 degrees and that's why most of it melted plus the surfaces. but now that the temperatures are going down, going to have to look out for some slick spots. until these winds help to dry things. you can see it's 10 to 20-mile-per-hour wind all right. th

but the other area that's going to get hard hit is in delaware and especially southern delaware. we've got georgetown around 10 inches, lewis, delaware, at 10 inches. we'll have wind out of the north so it's going to pick up moisture from delaware bay and that will increase the snow totals in that area as well. that's going to be a heavy, wet snow and that will cause some different kinds of problems. we'll have more neighborhood forecasts coming up. >> all right, glenn. >>> road crews at the jersey shore are getting ready for major accumulations, as we've been telling you. the shore will see the worst of this nor'easter. let's go to ted greenberg who is live in atlantic city. ted, snow arriving there in a matter of hours really now. >> reporter: jim, thoerlauthori are warning people here at the shore that travel will become very dangerous if not impossible. that's the atlantic city expressway you see there on the other side of an icy bay this evening. tonight many here are preparing to stay inside. a flurry of presnow shopping. >> people panic. >> reporter: at the acme this aftern

blizzard conditions for southern delaware and south jersey. ing at the shore some snow totals well over two inches and it's still coming down. that accumulating snow, not just for the shore in delaware, it's for the entire area leading to treacherous travel during the day and the gusty winds at the shore, those will be with us even after the snow comes to an end. look at atlantic city at the outlets this morning. the snow is moving sideways. very limited visibility. the visibility, one of the indications of the heavier snowfall and you can see that heavy snowfall being pushed inland right along the coastline. cape may, ship bottom and we have seen some heavier snowfall in southern delaware. right now it's moderate snowfall. inland a steady light snowfall so it will be accumulating during the day. all day today along with the snow, the winds. the winds are wrapping around that storm as it moves off to the northeast, so we'll have those strong gusty winds all day long. some areas will feel the stronger winds than others. in fact, they're near 40

darker shades of purple in southern delaware and moving thu the jersey shore. to wild wood to at hasn'tic city. we're seeing the steadier snow develop. we'll watch this as it moves in from the south. and then the entire area will be covered. from upper pits grove. to wilmington. bear. vine land. light snowfalling right now. you get towards georgetown, louis. towards the beach. that's where we're seeing the steadier snow. that's beginning to move in. that's where we expect the heavier totals. we sew the bands move on shore. it's a quick moving storm. the main body of the this is still well to the south of us. let's go ahead and look at the timing through tomorrow morning. at 2:30 i think we will see snow across philadelphia and parts of the lower pennsylvania suburb. we hit the morning commute look at the darker shades of blue. steady to heavy snow across the area. now this is just an initial look at some of the snow totals. we'll go into great depth neighborhood by neighborhood later on in the newscast. any where from philadelphia four to 8 inches. along the sh

the rain is staying at the shore in southern delaware.s is system to our south that's going to stay to your south, and we're kind of getting a glancing blow from it. tomorrow we're getting a glancing pass of some scattered light snow showers. and you'll see those during the day tomorrow, during the day. tonight by midnight we're down to 36 degrees. the clouds will finally break during the evening hours. you might even see a few flurries at the shore overnight tonight, but that system moves to the east. and the one in michigan moves by 10:00 in the morning. notice, too, that the temperatures are above freezing. so it could be one of those systems we'll see some snow coming down. during the 2:00 hour, but if we get any accumulation it'll more than likely be on the grass. then it gets colder heading into tuesday. the snow potential isn't looking great again. this is on the grass. a third of an inch in wilmington and philadelphia. not much more in the afternoon. tomorrow will be colder. 36 degrees, 37 and the cold lingers on wednesday. especi

southern delaware and south jersey will also see the heavier snowfall totals and the gustier winds are going to produce blowing snow even after the snow stops falling from the sky. that blowing snow is going to be bringing down the visibility and it's going to lead to some bitter cold coming in tonight. this is a massive storm system. you can see it moving towards new england. this storm is more than 300 miles away from us, the center of it, but it is spreading the snow into our area. it's a massive system and even though it's way offshore and going to stay offshore and move toward the east coast it's going to spread the bands of snowfall into the area. you can see those areas getting some lighter snow right now like philadelphia and some of the suburbs, that's a temporary situation. we will see it getting stronger and intensifying during the morning hours. so there's going to be plenty of shoveling to do and it's going to be difficult to stay warm on a day like this. the temperatures without the windchill, this is the actual air temperature. 26 degrees in philadelphia. about the same

seven inches on the ground and climbing in southern delaware.he suburbs. the wind is going to be whipping well after the snow comes to an end. this is lunchtime. temperatures are going nowhere. 25 in allentown, 25 in philadelphia, wilmington, millville and a degree or two warmer at the shore. we're still seeing the steadier snowfall at the noontime hour along the coast. that's accumulating snow through delaware and philadelphia and the lehigh valley. at 4:00 this computer model is showing it rapidly tapering off from the west. snow will still be falling but that's much lighter snow for 4:00 this afternoon for the shore. atlantic city will see some light to moderate snow at that time. but then as we go into the evening hours, the snow clears out, the wind will keep going. look at the temperatures dropping into the single digits overnight tonight. you'll see it at midnight tonight. first we get the snow and then we have to deal with the snow blowing in the strong gusty winds and the winds bringing in much colder air for the next few days. meteorol

the big focal point is new jersey and delaware and the southern two-thirds of delaware and coastal counties in particular in new jersey. a winter storm worn -- watch excuse me has been posted from ocean county down through southern burlington county and then all the way down the shore to wildwood and southern delaware and sussex county and kent county delaware as well as all the rest of south jersey is in an advisory. these are the areas expecting to see the most impactful snow although even southeastern pennsylvania on some models will also pick up something. as we take a look right now at satellite, you've got plenty of sunshine on the way early but you can see how the clouds are beginning to dig up from the south in association with that approaching nor'easter. temperatures this morning are pretty cold. 16 degrees in philadelphia. and up in allentown, we've managed to dip all the way to 4 degrees under clear skies and all the way down to two in reading. 11 degrees in trenton. 12 in wilmington and 24 in cape may. winds not a big factor this morning but in some cases they are forcing those

and we do still have a few little showers rolling by southern delaware and now into cape may, but this is light rain at best. and this is going to continue to break apart as we go through the next hour or two leaving us with just a few little spotty showers in the forecast. so here's the hour by hour. note there is still a chance of a brief period of a little small freezing rain shower. that means it falls as rain but as soon as it hits those cold, cold surfaces it freezes upon impact. that could be dangerous meaning slick roads possible, mostly north and west. down farther south, again, just a few sprinkles linger through about 9:00 a.m. and everything starts to move out. by the afternoon i actually think we'll see some sunshine out there across the region. let's talk about the tailgate weather though. if you are going to the eagles game, 10:00 a.m. 31 degrees the temperature and pretty much sticks right around there. at noon 30, at 3:00 p.m. 30, and then there it is some of the sunshine starting to break through in the afternoon hours just in time for game time, but unfortunately the
