tennessee, the area of low pressure, a big one, strong storm bringing significant snowfall to southern illinois and southern indiana. here's your chance of severe weather through southeastern georgia and will eventually move into the carolinas especially the coast where we would see more tornadoes develop today. heavy rain from western north carolina and to south carolina and into the albany-georgia area continues to spread eastward but we have heavy snow falling through northern indiana and will bring blizzard like conditions to portions of ohio, especially lakeshore of lake ontario as well. here's the best chance of seeing the tornadoes develop today. eastern north carolina and eastern south carolina and severe thunderstorms where we could get wind gusts up to 70 miles an hour. we are looking for perhaps a foot of snow through ohio and northwestern pennsylvania and western new york state. on top of that, we could see wind gusts up to 45 miles an hour and blizzard conditions are felt through the great lakes region. >> good thing in terms of snow on the trees in many spots. >> that's a good poi

texas, panhandle of oklahoma, southern indiana and illinois this is where light snow is heading your way. winter weather advisory usually means you'll have slippery travel but not like a blockbuster event. so just travel with care especially northern texas, panhandle of oklahoma up through kansas this morning the snow is breaking out shown here in white. we'll be watching missouri traveling interstate 70 during the morning hours. that's where you deal with snowy weather and this will continue through much of the day. we just changed over to snow in joplin. interstate 44 right now mostly rain but we'll watch interstate 70 later today. that could be a troublesome drive and a major thoroughfare through the middle of the heartland. this is not a big huge event. one to three inches from indianapolis to st. louis to kansas city to wichita including areas around topeka kansas. other areas of the country won't see much snow today. very cold, though. northern new england very cold. boston is at 22. maine in the single digits with negative numbers in the northern plains. so it's going to be ve

snow right now through northern arkansas and moving into southeastern missouri and also into southern illinois as well. so here is this area of low pressure and it is slowly going to move up to the northeast. so eventually, washington, d.c. and up into southern new bland england, we will start to see more or less rain move in. the snow is going to move into the western side of the storm system.but you can also see the heavier line of thunderstorms moving through southern georgia. we also have tornado watches. and that threat is going to push into the east coast of the carolinas. we could see isolated tornadoes again possible. on top of that, we are looking at possibly perhaps up to a foot of snow, especially off the shores of lake ontario and lake erie with 6 to 12 inches possible in southern indiana. that's a look at the weather across the country. now, here's a peek out your window. in boston, about 37 degrees, but that rain is going to take hold later on today. raleigh, north carolina, has a good chance of seeing thunderstorms today. and pittsburgh, looking at snow with highs today topping

southern illinois, southern and central ohio and we're watching it through indiana as well. spot will be right here along this i-70 corridor. from indianapolis to cleveland to buffalo, and that's where we have blizzard warnings posted. and that's because not only will we see all this snow but the winds have been such a big component and will continue to be a big component with this storm. that's why travel has been perilous. and we've seen it and will continue to. from today to tomorrow, here's where these blizzard warnings are, in effect until 7:00 tonight, not only for the 6 to 12 inches of snow but for the winds gust pg 40 to 50 miles per hour. and then we have winter storm warnings posted. this i-90 corridor. i-70, i-80, i-90, all impacted. over a foot of know in upstate new york. here's the time line. you can see tonight at 11:00, we move out of cincinnati in toward northeastern ohio in toward western and central pennsylvania, all of new york state. by tomorrow morning, still it will be -- the pictures of out new york state will be incredible. and also notice the wind c

it's snowing right now across indiana, much of southern illinois and even western tennessee. terms of heavy snow. not too much nor memphis. drive a few hours up i-55 at cape girardeau, and that's where you are likely to see a foot. southern ohio, stretching all the way to pennsylvania. pittsburgh and cleveland, all looking at snow for today and tonight and heavy snow in the northeast. and interior new england where we could see up to a foot. not out of the way here for the threat of strong thunderstorms. even though there is a lot of colder air from the south. look at the squall line of strong storms. frequent lightning stretching across the panhandle of florida. the biggest threat will be extreme northeastern north carolina. wilmington, myrtle beach, damaging winds and possible tornadoes. a big day for severe weather this? a smaller area. so cold, temperatures in the single digits and below zero with blizzard conditions. highs today, and even though you see highs in minneapolis, and kansas city, 28. the morning temperatures much colder. today's high. 36 degrees. just yesterd

mid-30s or so and in advance of the big conglomeration of snow and mixture through parts of southern illinoisand rain through tennessee and thunderstorms through the deep south, it looks like that christmas storm but it's not nearly as potent and some lows tonight above freezing and that doesn't matter. cold enough to snow and if that comes down heavy enough, it will do accumulating in the city and the greatest to the north and west and frederick, 29 and we're talking about upper 30s and some lower 40s. this is future cast and it's been real consistent and i have to let you know that that trend has been that it's edging the rain line closer to d.c. and this is 10:00 a.m. tomorrow morning and we're still in the snow here in d.c. but barely and quickly south and east, it turns over to rain and to the northwest and the i- 81 corridor and the higher elevations, it's snow and this is following the typical type of a situation where we have the rain-snow line setting up right along i-95. as we progress through the day to about 2:00, notice the pink line is right on top of i-95. and that is almost as
