towards southern maryland, where some very heavy rain is falling and right now we have a couple severe thunderstorm warnings in effect. one in effect until 6:30. that includes southern prince george's county, southern anne arundel county, calvert county, also charles county and portions of st. mary's county also under severe thunderstorm watches or rather severe thunderstorm warnings at the time being. let's show you what's happening around chesapeake beach and deal and an are run dell county. very heavy rain there. right along 4, as you move towards huntingtown, very heavy rain associated with this line. the line moves down. waldorf, your heaviest rain now done, but still seeing heavy rain in your region. and back down towards la plata and charles county. as we move south in towards st. mary's county, you're looking at the rain around loveville and the lexington park area. we have some video as the rain made its way through potomac area. a lot of rain coming down very, very heavily, some locations picking up 1 to 2 inches per hour as the line continues to progress east. that has cause

southern maryland getting pounded as well. great news for the baltimore area is that the clearing trend is under way to the west of us. that will move across the entire state by early tomorrow morning. it will be just a few more hours before the showers get toward the coast and away from us in time for the weekend. severe thunderstorm warnings in effect right now over on the eastern shore and parts of queen anne's county. part of calvert county also under a severe thunderstorm warning with damaging winds and hail. the watch has been cancelled to the northwest of baltimore. steady progress being made. rainfall totals, with last night's rain and today, these bull's-eyes indicate over 5 inches of rain. four or 5 inches of rain in the extreme southern part of the city. you can see most areas getting a upwards of an inch or more of rain. that means the flood warnings continue for the next few hours a round of baltimore metro area. temperatures are still in the seven's and even some 80's round here but it does the color of to the we

extreme southern maryland seeing this right now. and up towards st. mary city, other than that, things are quieting down. there's a few more off to the west in west virginia beginning to move off to the east. 75 degrees is where we're at, and we had a high today around 92. we picked up 87/100 of an inch between the morning rain and this evening's rain. humidity is up there, 79%. as we look around, we had some severe weather. no need to tell you that. let's talk about where it happened. how about right on the capitol lawn? the west lawn. we had trees down, thanks to those high winds. then as we look west and head across the potomac and over towards roslyn, they had a wind gust. guess how high. 58-mile-an-hour wind gusts out there. we had trees down the george washington parkway, for example. then as we head west across northern virginia out towards del plane, we also had hail about the size of 1 1/2 inches. so needless to say a lot of severe weather across the area today, and things finally are quieting down. but we're watching some of these storms in
