the storm approaching the southern united states is on the verge of being upgraded to a hurricane. time to get the business news with aaron. with talk about the u.s. housing markets, because it's nice to be optimistic about the economy. they're not in many reasons to be so. >> recently, yes. we are getting a crucial indicator. it is watched closely. it should indicate that finally the u.s. housing market is on a path of recovery. it is important to say that this housing market in the u.s. has always been the ball and chain around the u.s. economy. people either have lost their homes or they are scared of losing row homes, so that affects consumer confidence. if consumer confidence is down, that hurts the economy because people don't make purchases. between 2007 and 2011, 14.5 million homes were taken aback by the banks. -- taken back. that's one home in every 10 seconds. reason number is in the past few months suggest we could been in the turnaround. home prices nationwide in the u.s. have risen four consecutive month. house builders are building more homes that are being sold, so

mosquitoes and mosquitoes and the west nile infestation that's been going on across the southern part of the united states is a very serious concern for people who are coming back. they're worried about mosquito bites and the west nile that comes along with it. flood something a problem all across the region. anna kooiman is in laplace, louisiana, this evening. i know they've been having problems since before dawn today. >> yeah, they really have. folks in this region, they have their generators and their batteries ready for power outages. but they were not ready for this flooding. really shocked by how quickly the waters rose. all day long, first responders and the department of wildlife and fishery have been making water rescues. some 1500 across the state of louisiana. here in st. johns parish, 1500 people across the state. 3300 actually had to evacuate. some 300 miles away to shreveport, louisiana. let's take a listen to some of those residents. >> we dot katrina all over again. people got used to the water and now it really came. >> i done lost everything. >> places like laplace, they haven't been vu

united states. according to the southern poverty law center, there are more than 1,000 known hate groups operating innited states. those include neo nazis, clansmen. the agency says hate groups have increased by 69% since 2000. that growth has been fueled by the struggling economy, immigration, and the election of barack obama as a first african-american president. that is what they say. david gleddy worked as an undercover informant on the hate groups for the fbi and joins us from orlando, florida. thank you for being with us. you say you actually came in contact with gunman wade michael page during your undercover work with the fbi. where did you see him and what do you remember about him? >> twice up in michigan. once in lansing, michigan, and then over in ann arbor, michigan, at a neo nazi protest rally celebration and a rock 'n' roll festival for the confederate hammer skins. i remember briefly meeting him. he was with leaders of different groups. at that point, all different factions of different groups, skinheads, skin members, anti-government militias come there. he was with one of the bands.
