here's our clipper system coming out of ohio and kentucky and southern west virginia. this is going to move off toward the east. you get the idea that the southern half of virginia is going to see the snow. however, there's some indications that some of this snow may actually get closer toward fauquier county, culpeper, maybe fredricksburg, maybe southern maryland. you might pick up a little bit here on the grassy surfaces with temps this morning in the upper 20s and low 30s. road surfaces are warm. it would really have to snow to beat the band to overcome those mild temperatures and that high sun angle, some of that snow gets into the -- gets down through the clouds and heats the ground a little bit. here's a look at our michael & son camera. good visibility. the white house dark with a temperature of 33. notice how dry the air is. we have a 13-degree spread between the dew point and the temperature. any snow we get close even by us, i think a lot of the northern edge is going to be evaporated but you definitely see some of the darker blues. that's some moderate snow a

we're widening out, big thunderstorm through the southern 1/2 of west virginia and southern kentucky. they're beginning to trim the watch for our friend as long the i-81 corps -- friends along the i-81 corridor. one more shower in manassas back toward warrenton drifting south and east headed toward woodbridge. if you're headed down 95, going to be a wet go. if you're headed into southern maryland, nothing heavy but some showers around la plata headed toward leonardtown and also st. mary's city. that should be out of here the next hour, hour and a half. temperatures very nice, 72 bethesda, 69 arlington, 70 in great falls, 66 in reston, cooler out there with the shower, 70 in gaithersburg and 73 in college park. so we'll dry out very quickly. here's the deal. thunderstorms end by 8:00, breezy and cooler tomorrow, but still seasonable. we were going to lose 10 degrees. that's okay. we were 72 today, 62 tomorrow is okay. nice on friday and unsettled on saturday, kind of a nice way of saying showers and thunderstorms on saturday. here's our futurecast. later on tonight about quarter to 6:0

here's where the heaviest showers and storms can be found through eastern kentucky and the southern 1/2 of west virginia, but we see more showers and thunderstorms crossing 81 and headed over toward fredericksburg and charlottesville. we'll zoom in with live doppler to the south and west. you're in leesburg, fairfax, montgomery county, you're done with showers tonight, but down toward culpeper you're not and by the way, old rag mountain has been hammered twice today and this is moving through now. this is moving southeastward towards fredericksburg and will produce pretty heavy rain, rainfall rates almost an inch as hour as it progresses off to the southeast in the next hour, it will cross 95 and cross fredericksburg and go across eventually into southern maryland. temperatures, 70 in arlington, 72 bethesda, 68 reston, 69 toward fort belvoir. we're drying out quickly. thunderstorms end by 8:00, breezy and cooler tomorrow, seasonable, nice friday and unsettled on saturday. so for tonight showers and storms ending early, partly cloudy, breezy and mild, lows around 50, winds becoming northwest at 10 to 20.

there's some warm air down here coming up into southern ohio, most of west virginia in the 60s now. certainly into north carolina still in the 60s there. but you notice you jump the front and temperatures quickly cool off down into the 40s. big line of showers and thunderstorms coming our way tonight. i'm telling you, this out through the ohio river valley all severe now, along this squall line, as it jumps the front it comes into cooler air. it comes into more stable air. so it has been weakening over the last several hours pushing over into sections of western maryland. hagerstown, this is real close to you, too. so it won't be long before you start getting some rain there. we'll have clouds in advance of these showers coming on by and if they hold together, they're thunderstorm characteristics, we could have a rum pell of thunder as well, temperatures -- rumble of thunder as well, temperatures down into the upper 40s. tomorrow temperature around 65 degrees or so and late in the day winds will become northwest and that will help dry things out. here's the line tonight and it moves

southern portions of ohio. now approaching west virginia. ashland, ohio, area will see strong storms. d these are the account pictures from two hours ago. we saw this tornado in southern indiana. this is henriville, indiana. this is a high school that was hit. we saw a bus tossed literally halfway through a house. very strong winds. we had debris reported in cincinnati. incredible stuff. falling from the sky. the tornado didn't even go through cincinnati. this debris was picked up. we heard reports of asphalt from the road that was lifted up. it takes 180 to 200-mile-per-hour winds to do that. this is a wide spread outbreak that's occurring throughout areas of the ohio valley and tennessee valley. i want to go back to the weather maps to show you and update you on who is at risk. eastern portions of kentucky. as we move southwards. nashville, just about in the clear. you saw large hail. the tornado threat is now more or less to the eastern side of town. we'll watch out for knoxville throughout the evening and also a very strong storm over the top of chattanooga. as far as the forecast

along the ohio river now and a lot of this is severe, especially down through southern sections of ohio coming into west virginiaere and coming into western sections of p.a. now there is a warm front back out west of us. what that means is that west of that warm front where you're seeing all these strong and severe thunderstorms, it's much more unstable there. as it get closer to us we're much more stable here in the cooler air. so these storms are breaking up and becoming showers, but there's still a lot of lightning even into this part of the line over here into central sections of pennsylvania. hagerstown, this is just to the northwest of us. it looks like as this comes on across it will be able to hold some of those thunderstorm characteristics, some gusty wind, some very heavy rain and i do believe there will still be some lightning in this, weakening, but there will still be some lightning in there and there's not really going to be any chance any of this is severe, at least here. by tomorrow morning area of low pressure is closer to us. we still have the chance for showers as the low moves to the south an

it includes parts if not half of west virginia right now. southernions of ohio all the way down toward the gulf coast. the red, those are current tornado warnings that are there right now. numerous tornadoes on the ground. in through kentucky right on down through tennessee and even a couple tornado warnings in through alabama right now. i would expect to see more as this all moves off toward the north and the east. however, i doubt seriously doubt that there will be any kind of watches in our area and that's good news. we do have some rain right now making its way through our region. some of the heavier rain still down toward southern maryland. look at the lightning associated with this storm across richmond. this may just clip southern portions of st. mary's county but i think you'll be okay there as it makes its way across the bay and in toward the open waters of the atlantic in just a little bit. here is the heaviest rain through calvert county right now along chesapeake beach down around calvert beach. we'll see that moving off toward the east a
