here's the developing storm off to the southwest. if you watch the timeline, by tund morning, the storm is still hanging back here. but we're cloudy here in baltimore. again, this is the morning hours. it doesn't look like in the morning we will have any rain threat. this particular computer model does get snow into the baltimore area by afternoon and evening. this is only one of several. we have a difference in the models. some models don't get the rabe or -- rain or snow this far to the north. sth model indicates we will get some snow in the baltimore area. and by monday into tuesday, high pressure cuments back in. president's day looks like a pretty good day. here is one computer model. it shows that snow comes right up to baltimore but not into the city. annapolis, washington gets 1 or 2 inches of snow. more significant snow off in the mountains. most of the models indicate that this is where all the heavy snow is going to fall. we switch to another model that we use in house, and it pushes the snow farther north. we may get an i

there are shell trade routes all over the southwest. shell was a primary material for making jewelry, for using in burials, and you had to walk 600 miles to get it, down to the sea of cortez, the water that's in between baja and the main land of mexico. and i tracked routes all the way down to the border over years and then across the mexican border into sonora and then it a place called penacate and then a dune, 5,000 square miles of sand dunes, a beautiful landscape, but no water out there. but pottery, broken pottery all over in certain places and pieces of shell left behind where you could see that the people were crossing these dunes to the sea and picking up shell and then crossing back and then moving it up to phoenix and then from phoenix distributing it throughout the rest of the southwest. the first trip i took out there, we hit this mountain range right at the edge of the dunes. and we were carrying, i don't know, on that trip we were maybe carrying 80 or 90 pounds of water and moving it out to the sand and then we'd drop a c

this is in southwest baltimore, near the southwest shopping center. apparently the water main broke, causing water to go into the broken gas main that dpw was woing on. now, we do know that immediately the gas had to be shut off to the area. now, this is affecting at least 900 customers right near the southwest shopping center. we do have bge on the scene and extensive bge response. nearly 50 bge vehicles, as well as a bge command post, and a fire command post, are in the rear of the west side shopping center. mark is showing that to you now. now, it is likely going to be several days before bge can effect this repair. there is water has gone into the gas main, and that causes problems. bge is also digging in an area south of west side shopping center. so expect not only a lot. gas disruption here in the area for folks. but also the possibility of traffic problems, as bge vehicles, extensive amount of bge vehicles being in the area. back to you on tv hill. >> captain mike, thank you. we will have more on this developing story coming up new at 5:00 and

this is in the southwest part of the site. it's an active scene and linda so is tracking the latest where she is live this morning. what have you learned? >> reporter: well, in the last hour, we got an update from a bge spokesperson and they say 560 homes they got in and turned off the gas main but they've total of 900 homes and businesses to get to. we are live at mobile command center they set up a block away from where the gas main ruptured. they will be here for a couple days. they have the massive undertaking to get going here. what happened was crews were fixing a water line yesterday morning when it broke and hate gas line next to it. all the gas was shut off to about 900 homes and businesses in the area. they are in the process is of doing that. there's also an elementary school and a senior living facility nearby all without heat this morning. >> you have to physically gain access to the property twice. once to turn the gas off, and do the repair work to the main and again to go back in and turn the gas back on for th
