in 2007 there were no girls in school in southwest afghanistan. the taliban ran the medrossas, those are gone now. currently if you walked into southwest afghanistan you would see many marines but you would also see 25,000 kids in school. you would see close to 3,000 girls. there is a teacher's college that has been renovated in the big city and there are aspiring teachers studying at that college. there are women's centers established in two of those districts and there are afghan parents and educators involved in their local schools. and to just pull a thread on what many of our senior leadership has said throughout the couple of days, indeed the u.s. military is a global force for good and we will always seek opportunities to leave every place better than when we arrived. and i appreciate your time, appreciate your attention. thank you. . there are shell trade routes all over the southwest. shell was a primary material for making jewelry, for using in burials, and you had to walk 600 miles to get it, down to the sea of cortez, the water that's in between baja and the main land of mexico. and i tracked routes all the way down to the border over years and then across the mexican border into sonora and then it a place called penacate and then a dune, 5,000 square miles of sand dunes, a beautiful landscape, but no water out there. but pottery, broken pottery all over in certain places and pieces of shell left behind where you could see that the people were crossing these dunes to the sea and picking up shell and then crossing back and then moving it up to phoenix and then from phoenix distributing it throughout the rest of the southwest. the first trip i took out there, we hit this mountain range right at the edge of the dunes. and we were carrying, i don't know, on that trip we were maybe carrying 80 or 90 pounds of water and moving it out to the sand and then we'd drop a c

that will lead to quite a storm coming out of the southwest. that is the reason right now there are already winter storm warnings from chicago and a blizzard warning around denver. over the next 24 hours that storm will be moving well to our north. but we will be on the mild side. tomorrow, even as it comes of the southwest a high-pressure rolls over to a lot of sunshine. later in the week here comes the moisture in the form of rain showers even around us in spots like pittsburg. then the cold air really comes in as we get into friday. that is the day that it will finally begin to feel little bit like december, but not tomorrow. tomorrow morning temperatures near 40 degrees, above-average. almost 10 degrees above average even though it will be cooler than today. then the rain showers that we need comment late thursday, thursday night, then some colder air and that will stick around as we get into the big travel day for us on friday. friday around the great lakes if you are traveling to ohio, indianapolis, lake effect snow is not that far away.
