and we have the winds that are increasing from the west/southwest. you think about a west/southwest early wind and the fire is here and it's going to push it closer to the south lake tahoe area with the wind coming from that direction. while a wind is coming west/southwest it will help clear out our air and see improvements today. once again it's going to push the fire in the direction of south lake tahoe over the next couple days. we do still have numerous fires burning, including the dixie fire, a large one, as well as more fires in parts of northern california around redding and we are going to start out with the smoky conditions while the winds are calm but once the winds increase today we're going to see some improvements in the smoke. taking a look at walnut creek, we are right now at 60 degrees as you head out the door. temperatures are still going to be rising and turning into a very warm day with our north bay temperatures reaching 82 in napa, 76 in hayward, and 85 today in san jose. we still will have some low to mid 90s for the inland east

the cloud that we start with in wales and the southwest will break up.l continue to blow in more cloud to the eastern side of the uk. should get more sunshine, though, for the northern isles, some areas of cloud lingering across some easternmost parts of scotland. much of the country, though, seeing the sunshine and temperatures 23, maybe 2a in the west of scotland this time. could make 22 or 23 in fermanagh and tyrone. always warmer for wales, western parts of england. down the eastern side, a lot of cloud, a cooler wind as well. and around the coasts in particular, temperatures could be no better than 16 or 17 degrees. there could be a hint of sunshine now and again, but generally it's going to be pretty cloudy at headingley for day 2 of an exciting test match. not quite so chilly on friday. by this stage, the cloud is pushing more towards wales and western parts of england, and that means we should get a bit more sunshine for the eastern side of england. there will be some areas of cloud for scotland and northern ireland, some spells of sunshine too,

those winds are moving from the southwest. and that's one of the reasons this fire's been expanding so much. >> towards the lake the past couple of days. just breaks your heart. i know of a couple of friends up there to the had to evacuate as far as conditions here in the bay area. go that smoke is at least being sent out of the region. so we're not having an impact from this wildfire relief here. locally all that much. what we are seeing here in the bay area is just some clearing skies. we saw the haze over the weekend yesterday noticeably improved today is going to be even more so that way less fog that we had yesterday to with conditions out there really haven't cleared up from where we have been air quality good in pockets moderate pockets to this is going to be an ok day as far as air goes, we're going to continue to see improvements, not necessarily crystal clear, but hey a lot better than we have been. and if you have respiratory conditions, a bit of a sigh of relief, 50's and 60's for current temperatures with concord

we heard from ohioans like daryl hailley who heads southwest ohio regional transit authority. we heard from the mayor of akron. we heard over and over again what we need to revitalize these essential systems, whether in cleveland where i live or youngstown or toledo or anywhere in our state. we provide a billion and a half dollars so that cities like cleveland and ranking member toomey's biggest city in his state, philadelphia can replace rail cars that unbelievably date back to the reagan administration or earlier. this bill ensures that public transportation receives more than 20% of the new investment from the highway trust fund. it's consistent with historic -- senator shelby once chair of this committee retiring after 30 -- i believe 36, 37 years on this committee, he talked to me about that 80/20 split that's been here as long as he's been here, a tradition that both parties have respected. this bill takes a huge step toward electrifying the transit bus fleet. providing over $5 billion for the low and no, no emission, low emission program. it will mean taking off -- taki

we had the mid level moisture out of the desert and southwest. throwing in remnant moisture from a tropical storm that will head our way during the day. we may see a few shower in the north bay hill stops and heading into the evening more clouds coming our way. that will give us muggy conditions, at least by bay area standards, heading into the afternoon. by sunset tomorrow, stay tuned, we could see a few isolated showers crossing into the north bay by skies clear, high pressure builds in and we will get a taste of the heat coming back into the bay area, though san francisco and the coast really immune from that. we will get into the 70s this weekend, so a bit of warming for the coast and san francisco, but it is really the valleys that will see the warm-up. a jump of about ten degrees with the afternoon highs. a few areas like concord and antioch could be close to 100 degrees by the end of the weekend. it has been kind of a tale of two climates. we have the chilly coast but inland areas for most of the summer about ten degrees above normal. >> i

and so as we recover, southwest should do well >> yeah, southwest actual ly recently apologizing to customers. dow transports up over a percent today. big part of this reopening trade is the vaccine story pfizer getting approval for the covid-19 vaccine degas and pete, you both own it. what's your take on pfizer was this already priced in we heard it may be coming for several days >> we knew it was coming but everybody wanted confirmation. that's why when we saw the stock this morning it was up about 3%. we even saw a lot of option activity in here as well looking very short term, looking for this week for this stock to spike up further we'll see if that comes through. buying the 50 1/2 calls. pretty decent size looking for maybe another break to the upside this is a great example where you have incredible leadership the free cash flow it's outrageous. look at these pipelines. the fundamental side of this story. trading at a 12 p/e forward and then the pipeline, 60-plus stocks in phase one and two. phase three another 30 or so so it's an amazing company that i don't think you just l

so its function with that southwest wind is to funnel in that direction. and so with that in mind, it's pretty pretty much a done deal that they're going to see fire, obviously in christmas valley, and perhaps the models are suggesting all the way into south lake tahoe as we go into tomorrow. tomorrow afternoon tomorrow evening, so it's a very touchy evening involved for firefighters, a red flag warning next two days, but tomorrow is the main event. and again that you've gone over 50. i know most of you have just picture that that's what the fire is going to run a rundown and it's at the top. now it's epidemic. oh summit, but what they were worried most about and what's probably already happening as we're seeing amber sparks and fire starting out ahead, maybe a mile ahead as the wind to the strong winds blow embers down into christmas valley down into the myers area, and so that's what they're up against. and tonight's a rough night. most can be a rough day and then should get a little bit better as we head into wednesday. well, thank you joining us now by

but behind it, skies will tend to brighten up for southwest england and wales, and again that could lifthe low 20s celsius, otherwise, again, it's the high teens. that weather front spreads across eastern england during the first part of friday. and then, we've got the new area of low pressure starting to work its way into western areas. that'll bring some cloudy, wet, breezy weather to northern ireland and maybe western fringes of britain. for most, i think it's another rather cloudy day, but i'm hopeful later in the day, we start to see some sunny spells increasing across the south. that will lift temperatures up into the low to mid 20s celsius, otherwise, again, the high teens for most. this new area of low pressure will slowly work its way in during the start of the weekend, but we start to pick up southerly winds, and that will tap into something much warmer across france into central, southern and eastern parts of england. so, we'll see a brief warm spell to start this weekend with some sunshine around, could see up to 26 celsius or so in the south. that weather front, though, will

and he became quite a popular man in southwest virginia, was photographed a great deal. i'll show you a few of the photographs. i got the photo from his grandson who's still living. he's in florida. he's 95 years old. he does e-mail better than i do. and he has shared so many of the photos, and in the interest of time we can't see them all. but i'll close with my very favorite photograph, and that's also the only time i will read anything is at the end. so this is tom much later in life. we'll come back to the story of the foot in just a little bit. this is the earliest photograph that we have of tom. it was taken on his wedding day. he was married on christmas day 1872. i'll show you another photograph shortly of he and his young bride and the lady that probably saved his life. and i will elaborate on that as we go through. tom was born in 1837 about 2 miles outside of abingden. and he went into abingdon while the delegates were still in rich mbd in the succession convention contemplating whether or not they were going to take virginia out of the union. well, there was
