they've been deployed for the last eight months in southwest asia, and they are excited to be back on u.s. soil. all the people that you see cheering them on are volunteers. they meet every military flight that lands here at pease, and there are a lot of them. 182 already this year. some of the greeters doing this for years, and also, some new ones today, who came out just this afternoon. >> to greet them home, to say, like, welcome home. like, because they did all their hard work. >> i thought it was a great thing to do especially the day before thanksgiving, all the soldiers coming home, we want to say we appreciate them and give our love. >> the reporter: so the soldiers just finished up a ceremony. the pease greeters do this for every plane that comes in, it's really neat. they all gather and once again, in a couple hours or so, they'll get back on that aircraft that landed here and head to their base in north carolina. i spoke with several, they are super excited to be back for thanksgiving. there was a lot of wheeling and dealing that had to go on to get them back home in time,
