southwestern colorado, difficult travel. the western u.s. with relatively quiet weather pattern. the cool front that slid through, well, we have another quick on the heels of this one. what that means for us is an increase in moisture for the next 48 hours. and that translates to the chance of rain along the front temperatures. changing upper 60s to lower 70s wednesday and thursday. as the heat begins to shift off to the east and high pressure breaks down. now tonight we will watch the heaviest thunderstorms kind of rotating counterclockwise around an area of low pressure to the south and west. there is, in pink, rain/snow mix around timber line, 12,000 feet or so, lower elevations, isolated showers tonight but scattered showers are likely tomorrow with a couple embedded thunderstorms and under mostly cooler than today. 56 tonight in grand junction, close to that in denver, low 60s on the eastern plains. high temperatures tomorrow, mid 80s out west, 60s in the high country. feeling like fall around here with temperatures cooler than average for the next couple of days. 72 in denv

and western colorado and southwestern colorado you are full of cloud cover and wet. here in northern co because of the wind sitting up on the border with the dry air. there's a front and cooler and drier air behind it. the front mostly impacts areas along and east of the continental divide. and up in the atmosphere, we have a low pressure spinning over nevada bringing plenty of moisture to the state. that's why we do have a lot of cloud cover but as it moves to denver it's going to fight the flash flood watch through 10:00 tonight. and on the current radar a few showers west of i-25, south of i-70. and as we widen out the view, the coverage is much more widespread in the san juan mountains. and i really think that's where most of the precipitation stays for the next 24 hours. the southwestern quadrant of the state. tomorrow as the upper level low starts to move to the east. we'll try and spin moisture back to the fingers crossed we can get that done. but the dry air is going to be a tough battle. we'll see how it all unfolds. 80s and 90s on the eastern plains. cool u

watches and warnings popping up across southwestern colorado. quite a bit of heavy rain yesterday. more flash flood watches today. now it includes spots like the springs and pueblo. heavy rain expected there tonight. this morning we are seeing a few spotty showers, some wet roads. had wet roads there in greeley, along c-470, and along 285 you're going to find damp conditions this mornnng. light spotty showers expected for the morning commute. then you'll notice mostly cloudy skies through midday. by 12:30 still could see a few light showers. commute late afternoon, early evening that we'll get another shot at heavy rain. that's what it looks like at 5:30. then fast forward to about 10:00, 10:30, some of our heaviest showers denver, but also south of it along the palmer divide into colorado springs, and spots like the springs and trinidad could be looking at over an inch of rain in a very short amount of time. our mountains within two, three day period, 2 to 4 inches of rain. it's helping. was pretty dry in spots. we'll see wet weather and unfortunately, muddy and potentially flash
