those are areas of some light rain just now beginning to move into southwestern virginia, southern west virginia into kentucky and tennessee. it's advancing off to the north and east. it will take a while to get here. maybe around noontime may get sleet and maybe wet snowflakes around the blueridge. temperatures are around freezing. reagan national at 32. up near the bay it's milder. we do have a freezing rain advisory and freezing rain warning. this is all of these areas in pink and areas in the lavender are under a winter weather advisory for an inch of snow and icing that will occur today as that system moves in. farther east we're not going to have any problems with this bit of sleet and maybe some wet snowflakes initially and it does look like we will have that beginning around noontime and then during the afternoon a bit of a blustery wind. we'll have that sleet mixing with some rain perhaps from time to time around our western northern suburbs. i'll be back with a look at what may happen this christmas eve in ten minutes. >> things are looking good right now on the interstates so

it is close to southwestern virginia now. it will continue to make its way to the south and the east. it will trigger a few showers and bringing those temperatures back up above normal. it is in the 50's and 60's now our weekend will be mild but with the front lingering in the area a risk of the a shower also lingers. weekends use some rain it has been dry here in the past couple of weeks. mostly dry conditions, only a slight chance for a shower on sunday. generally, a cloudy day near the bay and then finally a stronger front will cut across the area on monday and that's when we'll clear things out. 47 to 52 tomorrow with light southeast winds. on the bay winds will average 5 to 10 knots. temperatures start to climb after a chilly night, the warm front goes through, we hit 57 on saturday. 64 on monday then a cold front goes through, a shower on tuesday and by middle of next week highs are back down into the 40's. >> it is a novelty when the schedule came down. the ravens will get a look at the robert griffin iii in person. rg

the nearest drops are still down around across far southwestern virginia into northeastern parts of tennessee. it's coming our way but the air mass that's in place over us today is really dry. so the first rain drops are just going to get eaten up by all that dry air and not reach the ground. but that helps cool the atmosphere down and that's the reason i think sleet pellet will be a possibility. clouds returning during the overnight. you will probably get some breaks of sunshine first thing in the morning but clouds will quickly thicken right back in. cold air will be in place and moisture coming up over the top of that. as the rain drops try to fall through that cold air, we could get some sleet, especially likely out across parts of the shenandoah valley, panhandle of west virginia, northern and western maryland, on up into southern pennsylvania, and a time line on this is late morning through about midafternoon tomorrow. eventually the warm air wins out, changes it all to rain and it comes quickly to an end before midnight tomorrow night and we'll be back in the sunshine just in time for
