this weekend marked the eighth annual surf dog competition which raises money for the spca. the event draws up to 40 surf dogs and thousands of spectators. each competitor has ten minutes to get his or her top two waves. they're scored on confidence level, length of ride and overall ability to quote rip it and grip it. pretty nice. >>> all right, well, this is to a beauty pageant like none other where the ugliest contestant is the top dog. yeah here we go. a beagle boxer basset mix named walle won in petaluma today. don't feel too badly for walle. his mug won his owner a trophy and $1,500. >> everybody always says there's something wrong with him. his head is too big and his back is too short and it's nice to know that he can win at something. >> he's kind of cute. owners also had to provide documentation from a veterinarian proving their dogs were healthy. here's a fun fact. one of the judges was john provost who played timmy on the classic television show "lassie." >> wow. did you see the size of that trophy? >> yeah. >> that was huge. >>> hey update on the a's coming up.
