economic specialization itself then is going to change the character of the city. each: was increased specialization actually changing life in teotihuacan ? warren barbour began to think the tiny faces would yield an answer. barbour: during my dissertation research, i occasionally would run across figurines that had fingerprints, and they sort of added a humanity to my work, and i started looking for them, and they sort of brought me closer to the manufacturer of the print. i started wondering who he was, and i figured i would never be able to find that. and i started wondering whether or not i could find something else out about them. keach: barbour's curiosity led him to the modern science of fingerprints where he discovered that with a large enough sample he might be able to discern the gender of the person who made the print. males have wider ridges. females have narrower ones. through trial and error, he devised a technique to make permanent molds of the fingerprints. from these he began to construct a sample. finally, an intriguing discovery -- direct evidence

officials have put eight employees of a redwood city school on administrative leave following the arrest of a teacher accused of abusing two students. last week a special education preschool teacher at redwood city elementary school was charged with hitting two 5-year- old students. parents at the school today said they were surprised and angry. >> when you have a kid at school you trust the teachers and if someone wants to become a teacher they also have to think about the consequences and what they're getting into. especially with special needs kids. >> reporter: an investigation will determine whether those school employees reported the abuse as required. >>>-- police released the first of its kind video helping gay, lesbian and transgender youth. >> reporter: the san francisco police department has released an eight minute video for the it gets better project. in the video, members of the department talk about being a part of the lgbt community. the video is the first of its kind produced by a law enforcement agency in the united states. >> a lot of kids still need to hear the love and embracement that we have for them and the care that we have for
