spellman is not segregated. that's what this was about. rosa parks wasn't saying everybody has to sit up front. if i want to i want to have the opportunity to. if i want to eat at the lunch counter i want to be able to go there. we come back to this notion, this segregation. the reason why is because we want people to feel comfortable. we don't want to offend people. to me it's offensive when one of the wealthiest counties in the united states of america almost 90% of children in some schools cannot read, write or do math on grade level. the school that we started in bridgeport, the school that we started in bridgeport is not segregated though it's almost entirely black and latino. they bet on a school that didn't even exist. i need you to understand how badly our community wants out. not one parent in the entire city knew where the school was going to be yet one thousand applied. had we accepted all of the students that applied that year we would have been the biggest school in the city in just our first year. there are quite a few famili
