darcy spencer was in the courtroom and she has the latest from dcs second district headquarters. hey, darcy. >> reporter: according to the documents the drug bust was the result of an anonymous tip. place si they und large potted plants ofmarijuana growing in the backyard. prom negligent cbs radio journali howard aaron stooeb has been arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana after police found nearly a dozen potted marijuana plants growing in the backrd of his georgetown home. according to sources, second district vice officers received an anonymous tip that pot was being grown at aaronste's home in the 3500 block of t street northwest. the documents say about 11:30 friday night, the officers found 11 pot plants in his backyard, some in plain view. and there was a strong odor of marijuana in the air. all of the plants, the documents say, were about 8 feet high. during the execution of a search warrant, police recovered more pot in baggies inside the house. his wife, orly katz with a possession to distribute marijuana charge. a washington correspond

news 4's darcy spencer has more on the rescue effort. >> reporter: the missing boater's son tells me she is very experienced on the wate in fact, she comes out here to the occoquan river very often and does practice runs. relatives have no idea what may ha happened out here today. a missing boater's husband and son wa and worry as searchers coinue to look for the 65-year-old woman. fairfax county fire and rescue officials say she went out on the river in her skull boat at sandy run in fairfax and hasn't been seen since. workers at the park realized something was wrong late in the afternoon. >> they had a check-in system, a check-out system and noticed around 5:30 that she had not checked in. they noticed her boat wasn't inside the boathouse. her car was still in the parking lot so they decided, hey, let's go out and look for her. >> reporter: all they found was the woman's capsized boat in the river. those workers called 911 launching an all-out search. authorities looked using a helicopter and four boats but found no sign of the woman. so far they're not releasing her name. >> every

darcy spencer is live with these developing details. darcy? >> reporter: we should first say that these envelopes were field tested by the d.c. fire department and they determined there s no harmful substance involved. no hazardous materials. and no one has reported getting hurt or becoming sick as a result of these incidents. these leers containing a white powdery substance were received through the mail at adams elementary school today and bancroft elementary yesterday both these elementary schools are here in the district. the fbi has collected these envelopes and will do more testing. here at adams elementary, there wano evacuation of the children day. but some of the kids had to be moved to other parts of the school while the hazardous materials team conducted their testing inside the building. of course, any talk of envelopes containing white powder brings back the whole thought of the anthrax attacks from several years ago. d.c. fire says this powder is not harmful. >> we were able to go in with our hazmat team. do some field analys and

in silver spring, darcy spencer, news 4. >>> escalators will be up and running again after six monthss. megan mcgrath joins us where they are once again seeing the joy of moving stairs. >> reporter: for months at the bethesda station have been hoofing it up and down, one single nonworking escalator basically a set of stairs. it's been quite a choke point for people who used this metro station. one of the escalators was undergoing a complete overhaul, completely redoingit. whe that work was being done, it was not in commission. basically they went down to one escalator that was stationary, not working, nning from a platform to the fare card machines. up and down traffic was sharing that nonmoving escalator. it was quite a choke point, really slowed things down during the rush hour commute. and for some it was unwanted exercise going up and down the stairs. the escalator has reopened. so shouldn't be a prlem beginning today for folks who usthis mro station. metro has had yon going problems with its escalators. they weren't working there either. it was a big inconvenience for many people
