darcy spencer flif glen arden tonight with that story. >> reporter: this was just devastating news from this community that was already dealing with a horrible loss. this is what's left of the home that was destroyed by that fire early thursday morning. it took the lives of these young children. take a look here. right in front of the home, a single teddy bear left here in memory of these children. prince george's county fire officials say they're stepping up efforts to make sure every home in the county has a working smoke alarm. the fire here on leslie avenue in glenarden claimed four lives. a father and his three little girls ages 4, 8 and 11. earlier today fire destroyed this home on berry road. residents got out okay but their little blind dog couldn't find his way out. he was rescued and given oxygen which saved his life. both of these tragic fires have one thing in common -- there were no working smoke alarms in either home. >> very disturbing over the past couple weeks we've had several fires where we found there is no working smoke alarm inside the structure. that is of high co

spencer christian with a look and tornado sighting? >> that is correct. here is a live doppler. most of the bay area is drying out now. most of the moisture has left us but where it's active is quite active. that is down in the santa cruz mountains where we have a wide path of heavy rainfall and snow in the higher elevations near doulder creek and rain continues down towards scotts valley. farther east along gilroy, area of east of that rain up in the mount hamilton area. snow is still falling. farther north, take a look where the tornadoes touched down. two tornadoes produced. first one touched down 1:30 in the afternoon and hour later a second tornado report. fortunately no reports of damage yet but video to show you of the first funnel cloud as it was touching down. this is one that occurred at 1:30 in the afternoon. there is a lot of dusting but there is no apparent damage occurring. as i said earlier, no reports of injuries. we have had some wild and wacky weather around and near the bay area today. it's not over yet. i'll have a look at seven-day forecast a little later. >

darcy spencer has the latest on exactly what happened in new orleans. darcy? >> reporter: according to espn, police say too much electricity was being pumped into the superdome, causing a surge. in a statement just released, the distribution and transmission feeders were serving the superdome at all times and the company is continuing to work with stadium personnel to address any outstanding issues. a spokesperson for the superdome apologized but gave no further details. meanwhile, the nfl said in a statement, stadium authorities are investigating the cause and will have more information as it becomes available. some speculated beyonce's electrifying halftime performance may have contributed to the power going out. a new twitter handle has already popped up, superdome lights, poking fun at the stadium going dark. darcy spencer, news4. >> a lot of people suggesting that beyonce might have knocked the lights out with her performance. she brought fire, ice, smoke to the halftime show at the superdome. and she sang some of her biggest hits including "crazy in love
