let's get straight to abc seven news weather anchor spencer christian. spencer. so dangerous once again. >> oh, you're right about that. so the winds remain exceedingly high, the relative humidity dangerously low. of course, that's a terrible combination. and it means high fire danger, complicating the wind flow now, or adding to the intensity, i should say, is the development of this area of low pressure, which is only helping the winds to intensify. at the moment, we're looking at wind gusts up to and above 45mph, generally across the region where the fires are burning. so as we look at the wind gusts animation going into the evening hours, we won't see much change. winds may lose a little bit of their intensity going into the evening hours down below 30mph for many locations, but by 10:00 tonight over 30mph. and that pattern continues tomorrow. gusts up to about 40mph. this is only at the surface. of course, the gusts will be even stronger in the higher elevations. now, let me give you a closer look at this red flag warning now in effect until 6 p.m. on wednes

abc seven news weather anchor spencer christian is here. spencer. >> okay. dan. yes. so thankfully, we have no fire weather conditions here in the bay area. we had wind. well, we still have a wind advisory in effect, but right now the winds are pretty tame. as you can see, we've got wind speeds generally under 15mph, with the exception of 20 mile per hour gusts at half moon bay. as those winds continue to diminish. of course, we'll be less concerned about this wind advisory, but it does remain in effect until just after midnight for the north bay interior mountains and for the east bay hills. winds will generally the sustained winds be out of the north at about ten, about 20 to 30 miles an hour, with gusts between 35 and 50mph. although the chance of gusts that strong is diminishing now. and of course, there is the possibility of downed tree limbs and some power outages. the 24 hour temperature change is pretty impressive. it is quite a bit warmer right now than at this time yesterday. 11 degrees warmer in novato and concord and hayward and san carlos. so on we go to

spencer. thanks. rain and snow in southern california is helping firefighters mop up the remaining wildfire still burning. the eaton fire, which is scorched more than 14,000 acres, is now 98% contained. today, there is snow on mount wilson in e san gabriel mountains. this area was burned in the eaton fire. all evacuations have been lifted. that is the good news. now, the palisades fire, which charred more than 23,400 acres, is now 90% contained. and in northern l.a. county, the hughes fire, which has consumed more than 10,000 acres, is now 95% contained. and in san diego county, the border two fire, which has torched more than 6600 acres, is up to 40% containment. rainfall across southern california has created a new post fire threat. the fires have put a large area at risk of possible landslides. barriers of sandbags are in place and k-rails now line the charred hillsides. as rain moved into the burn zone. for residents lucky enough to escape the fire, mother nature has them worried once again. >> a

spencer, thanks very much.l, people across the country are stepping up to help animals in the wake of the wildfires. these animals arrived in washington state yesterday, and a similar scene here in the bay area, as shelters try to make room for animals displaced by the fires. one of the shelters taking in pets is marin humane. abc seven news reporter luz pena visited that shelter today as fires continue to burn. >> volunteers from across california are responding to one of the biggest needs l.a. animal shelters are facing, sending down trained staff to l.a. to help the shelters there because their staff is absolutely overwhelmed and exhausted. they're transporting dogs, cats and other small animals out of l.a. area to free up shelter space. last week, the san diego humane society transported 39 dogs from the pasadena humane society. over the weekend, marin humane welcomed 46 animals to the bay area. >> you can see all the ones that have the pink signs on it. those are all from l.a. county. guinea pigs, rabbits,

so let's bring in abc seven news weather anchor spencer christian because spencer l.a.ounty is bracing for yet another red flag. high fire danger warning. what is the look ahead for the next few days? >> diana, it looks like the high fire danger is going to be present for at least the next three days. here's a look at the red flag warning for high fire danger. covering an expansive area of southern california, not only from in the l.a. area all the way down through san diego county. this is in effect until 6 p.m. wednesday. and of course, the humidity is dangerously low in the teens in some locations down below 10%, and the winds are still gusting up to 65 almost 70mph. on top of that red flag warning, i should point out a high wind warning will be in effect for the northernmost part of that area from 4 a.m. tuesday to noon wednesday, again with gusts up to 70mph. if there is any encouraging news, it is that the winds have been blowing out of the northeast, pushing a lot of the smoke from these fires out to sea, which has helped. it's given some improvement to the air q

spencer. okay, deon. >> looks like it's going to be a few days before there's at least relief from the fire danger itself. we have a red flag warning in effect now until 6 p.m. wednesday for that entire region of southern california ventura county, los angeles county, orange county, all the way over to palm springs for fire danger with dangerously low relative humidity and strong, gusty winds. pardon my loss of voice here. i'm trying. we also have a fire weather watch in effect that will be in effect from monday afternoon through wednesday afternoon for this area of southern california, from palm springs all the way down through san diego county, strong santa ana winds and again, dangerously low relative humidity from ten to about 20%. now, at the moment, the winds in the area of those fires are gusting up to about 45 to 50mph in the windiest locations, still very strong and dangerous winds. if there is any good news here at all, it is that the winds are blowing out of the northeast and carryi
