christien kafton just spoke to investigators and joins us live now with what he learned. >> reporter:ook at where investigators have been. police tell us they are working in what they call a detached garage. it appears to have been converted to a live space. a neighbor we talked to just about 20 minutes ago who did not want to appear on camera told us she did not hear the gunshots but she did wake up to a series of clicks. she says she woke up to look out the window and saw officers preparing their guns. police reported to a call of shots fired. they found an elderly man in the converted garage. he died of one gunshot wound. investigators will not tell us who he is because they say they're still trying to contact next of kin. now police are saying at this point they are in the early stages of this investigation and say they could have more details about this killing in a few hours. so be sure to watch the morning news starting at 4:30 tomorrow morning and mornings on 2 as more details unfold. we will continue to monitor this situation overnight and bring you the very latest details ag

i just spoke with the chp. they say since this accident happened they have not received a single tip on this hit-and- run. the coroner's office released her identity and she is 39-year- old amanda vente. we looked in the white pages and saw a woman by that name and the same age lived 5 blocks from where she was hit. we have been unable to get ahold of her family just yet. now the chp says at 3:15 this morning a driver in he in the southbound lanes there stopped and called 911 when they saw a body, others stopped to prevent it from being run over. several lanes of the freeway and the ramps were closed for the commute so they could investigate. c ph says no unknown reasons she was walking on the freeway and hit by a car that sped off. the chp says the vehicle most likely has damage. >> we don't have leads, we don't know if someone hit them and thought maybe they hit a dog or a deer. anything is possible at this point. we hope that someone comes forward and tells us you know i hit something in the roadway and we c
