mary's a little more and spotsylvania 3 1/2 inches of snowfall. but the snow is pretty much out of here as of now. if you don't like the snow, that's good news. we are seeing clouds across the area this morning as we have a mid level disturbance trying to move through. we will have high pressure moving in here as we go throughout the day. we will be seeing plenty of sunshine in the forecast. it is going to remain cold. we have lake-effect snows back into new york and ohio and even into western pennsylvania at this time. so we are looking for another storm to move in here. this is going to be a coastal low trying 20 work its-- trying to work its way in here saturday night into sunday. it depends on the track of the low. if it stays off along the coast, we could miss it. or more to the eastern counties. but if it stays more inland, everywhere could see snow going into saturday night and sunday. we will keep our eye on that for you. as for today, that temperature will be coming in around 33 degrees. my big concern is we will have icy spots going thro

i heard laura and shawn motioning that spotsylvania and culpeper will be closed tomorrow. culpeper had 4 1/2 inches and spotsylvania 3.5 and there would be heavier snow and turning to phase 2. a lot of roads are wet and look at the temperatures, ranging from upper teens in hagerstown to the low and mid-20s across the area and they will head into the teens in the suburbs. the roads not treated will be experiencing a refreeze overnight and it may cause additional problems in the morning and check out the cloud going by. i was surprised to see that they did see the -- pull out the plows and that was badly needed. hopefully the crews will do that into the overnight hours and laura, we'll have more on the forecast and take a closer look at everything and the other storms coming up later. >> you were right no on forecasting this one. >>> the coverage continues inva virginia, more than 1,000 trucks are treating the road as we speak and karen houston has more. >> reporter: you can count on the traffic here and these cars passing by. the situation around the northern virginia regio

culpeper and spotsylvania picked up 4 1/2 to 5 inches of snow. they don't even have school tomorrow. the big problem for the rest of the schools is how icy will it be in the morning because get this, fredericksburg and martinsburg are down to 7 degrees. it is so cold because of the snowpack and light wind and clearing skies. gaithersburg is down to 16 and manassas, d.c. 25 degrees. everybody will be experiencing a real cold night and real hard refreeze. you can see what the lows are, single digits to the west and mid-teens in the suburbs, about 22 degrees in the district. want to talk about the weekend quickly because this will be an important forecast. let's see if we can't jump right through this and get to the weekend. the track will be key to what happens sunday. if the storm is closer to the coast, that will be a big snow, maybe not for us, but for someone, especially long island, philadelphia, will have to watch that. if this track changes, maybe it starts to slide farther out to sea, that's going to mean no snow. we think it's close enough

spotsylvania county schools in virginia now closed today due to snow.it is advancing toward the region. look at the radar here over the last couple of hours, you can see that snow ming across west virginia, into virginia. shenandoah valley,dvancing toward the metro area. still about two to three hours away before it reaches the metro area. it's cold enough for the snow to stick. only in the teens to near 20 degrees now. it looks like we'll have light snow from midmorning until early evening and t metro area. highs reaching just t upper 20s today. total amounts about one to three inches here in washington and the nearby surbs and across northern virginia into the highlands of west virginia and our eastern suburbs. where you see that bottom zone, that is where they could get higher amounts of snow. three five inches, and might mia little bit of sleet, too. that will keep the amounts down in southern maryland, fredericksburg, to charlottesville. may mix with som sleet before it ends by late afternoon and early evening. higher amounts, as well, farther to t
