also in silver spring. this is a multicar accident at georgia avenue in the beltway. it appears the collision occurred on georgia avenue just inside the beltway. that's in the montgomery area. traffic is a mess, not moving at all. additional ambulance units are being requested to the scene, but what we can tell you is there was an accident there, a pretty significant one and it is tieing up traffic. we'll keep you updated as we get more information. to stafford county now where a youth minister has been indicted with misconduct. the methodist church placed jecherifnn brennan on unpaid administrative leave. she is accused of ifhaving sexu contact with a 15-year-old boy between february and march of this year. brennan was counseling him and his girlfriend against premarital sex. >> we reported immediately to the sheriff's department and to the child protective services and our youth director was placed on administrative leave. >> brennan had been a youth minister for a year and a half at the church. >>> comin

megan mcgrath is in silver springs with the latest now. good morning. >> reporter: we saw investigators come back to the scene here. they are concentrating their focus there on the front door of the building here. that is the crime scene. that's where the resident was murdered. police could use help in this case. a lot of people who live in the apartment complex heard the gun shots early this morning, but so far police don't have any eyewitnesss. the woman was shot just steps away from the front door to her building. the question is who murdered her? investigators don't have a whole lot to go on. just a 911 call about shots being fired. police brought in a dog to try and pick up a trail on the gunman, but at this point it's not known if the shooter ran away or had a car. >> i just was doing homework, and i was on the computer, and i told everybody to shut the blinds and stuff, because i just heard shots. i told mom that there was shots. >> it happened at the ashford wood lake apartments. just before 12:30 this morning shots rang out. >> i

police made the discovery this morning on castle terrace in silver spring. tonight a 17-year-old has been charged with the murder. fox 5's maureen umeh live in the newsroom wh this one now. >> reporter: the 17-year-old murder suspect is the victim's daughter's boyfriend. police say rosa vasquez did not approve of the relationship. they say an argument with that teenager ended in her murder. 35-year-old rosa vasquez was the last person anyone expected to go missing. >> all she does is go to work, come back, take good care of her kids. >> she was more of a responsible person, not someone to walk away from family, not someone to walk away from her job order responsibilities of life. >> reporter: on september 1 her former husband told police she had not been seen since the previous day. nearly three weeks later vasquez' body was found stuffed into a plastic storage container in the corner of the bckyard of her silver spring town home. >> very squarey thing. >> reporter: -- scary thing. >> reporter: even more shocking, the alleged killer. montgomery county police

as we look at the jfx at cold spring lane you see traffic is beginning to build but no delays at this time. >>> we know times are tough. and now two longstanding baltimore traditions are affected. the columbus day parade and thanksgiving day parade cancelled. the columbus day parade has been around for more than 100 years. the city funds the thanksgiving parade but the mayor says money is tight. and in recent years attendance has been down. >> the thanksgiving one was pretty light so i mean, most people tend to come out in the spring and for certain events. we want to build on those as well and maybe do something in the inner harbor to celebrate thanksgiving, get people out into the community. >> we're disappointed they are cancelling the parades because of the economy. they have money for everything else but the parades are something that families get together and watch together. >> the mayor says the city will reconsider bringing the parade back in the future if the funds are better. if the economy improves. there is some good news. the christmas parade that runs through hamden will

take a look at powder springs, georgia, right now.with water. this is actually a good sign. the water has actually receded. we're seeing something we haven't seen in the last few days, which is the sunshine. the positive news is that things are dry now. the bad news is people are now getting an idea of how damaged their homes and their property are. take a look at where this truck is. this truck was actually the scene of a water rescue. the driver was stranded here. the water line came right up over the bed of this truck. he had to wait to get rescued. as you mentioned earlier, the governor issued a state of emergency for 17 counties here. he's also put in a letter to president barack obama to try to get some federal help for the state. as you can imagine, some of the municipalities and cities here will have a tough time with their budget issues taking care of this unpres depted mess. right now we're trying to take a look at some of the damage. so is the governor. he toured this a little while ago over the air. >> thank you so much. >
