overall, i think this deal is good for sprint. >> what it does do, though, it means sprint would have they had over softbank had over dish is that dish is a leveraged takeover. so are they slightly eroding their advantage? >> in a way, yes, you're right in saying that. but if you look at how this cash will be used by sprint, that could be the bigger question. if the cash infusion by softbank is being used, i don't think that will be the optimal use for the cash infusion. what sprint needs to do is to make sure that it has the right kind of spectrum. i think it should prepare itself better for the spectrum licensing which is due next. if sprint can do that, i think this deal will help them and be prepared for that kind of spectrum licensing bid. >> more tempting offer for sprint shareholders who sell. i suppose the thing is just how attractive -- now they got it compete, how attractive are the two competing offers for those who stay? >> right. i think another aspect of this was this deal might be easier to push through rather than the other deal because of the fact that softbank is a f

sprint is suing dish network and clearwire. it's an attempt to block dish from taking over clearwire. sprint owns the majority of clearwire, but wants it all. sprint contends that deal violates shareholder rights that are protected by clearwire's charter. last week, clearwire's board reportedly recommended that investors sell shares to dish instead of sprint. billionaire hedge fund manager daniel loeb is upping his stake in sony. he's turning up pressure on the congolmerate company to spin off its entertainment division from its tech business. leob's third point hedge fund upped the number of shares to 70 million, or 7% of sony, with a stock value around $1.4 billion. according to the wall street journal, loeb wants sony to spin off 20% of its film and music business as an ipo. its a busy month for ipos. pasta chain noodles and company says it plans to raise $75 million at $13-$15 a share. it's expected to price in next week. and digital coupon company retail me not has filed for a $230 million ipo as the e- commerce sector sta
