, friends of washington square park, telegraph hill dwellers, joining the development of the final supplemental seisseir, from 2006 to 2008. during the environmental review period, presentationses were made. comments received, and incorporated into the final environmental document. now, since 2006, the project held 10 community meetings in north beach to inform residents, business owners and organizations of the proposed construction activities. during the project's ten-year planning and development process, other retrieval shaft options along stockton and columbus street right-of-way were evaluate and had presented to the public including the option of removing the tbm from the chinatown station site. the environmental process concluded in 2008 that constructing the retrieval shaft on columbus avenue would cause the least disruption to traffic and public access to locals and businesses. now, that brings us to presentation. four community meeting were held before construction of the north beach retrieval shaft work which started in august of 2012. the presentations of those four me

to develop a plan for 12 parks where the most water can be conserved. alamo square was ranked within the top five of the consumer parks but had high potential for water conservation. as a result -- i will use the overhead here. alamo square will be the fourth park we have been able to implement this in. previous projects include alta plaza, a 900,000 reward, replacing the irrigation controller and install drought tolerant no-month grass and improve drainage. balboa park, 120,000 grant reward. we replaced the booster pump and raised the sunken boxes and improved the irrigation line. lastly, those in jefferson square in the western addition, with over a million in a grant reward replaced the entire system, installed a state-of-the-art system, no-month grass and drought tolerant landscaping features throughout the perimeter of that large park. have not been through there recently and will take the consensus down the first week in december. it's been a transformative project for us. let's see. in february of this year the department submitted the required application do

as discussed before the creation of park in showplace square area is to showcase the area plan. also building a new park in showplace square is also a priority project per the eastern neighborhoods infrastructure prioritization memorandum of understanding completed in january of 2009. in the eastern neighborhoods we are required by law to spend 80% of our impact fees on these priority projects so this project helps us fulfill that legal obligation. finally the project must be recommended as discussed before, the proposed project was supported by 2009 showplace square open space plan. it was supported by a community meeting held in early 2011. it was unanimously supported by the eastern neighborhoods citizens have iery committee in july 2011. the proposed project has been reviewed and supported by member city agencies including department of public works, the port, park and recreation, arts commission, park and mission civic design review and office of economic work force and development. based on the community support, supported by other agencies and excellent return on value to
