st. louis dispatch, reporting on this all week. good morning, nicholas, let's talk about your newspaper which shows later poll numbers, senate race has been turned upsidedown now. claire has a 9-point lead. 50 to 41%. surprising or not given what you've been covering? >> i think that's what everyone was expecting. when these comments came out from congressman akin on sunday, everyone had expected that this race was going to totally change and that mccaskill, who was trailing her opponent todd akin, would soon be ahead of him. and the poll results are starting to show that. it is early yet. it's only august. the election is in november. one of the issues is a lot of people were expecting todd akin to resign and withdraw from this race. he's had intense appreciate you shall from the gop establishment to get out so they could try to put somebody in who they think could win this seat. mccaskill has had high negatives in the state for her support of president barack obama who in our same poll is trailing mitt romney in the state of missouri by seven points. it's going to be an interesting fall as todd akin has said. he's staying in and we'll see what happened. >> my direct
