impressive storm over st. louis. one storm after another sailed over st. louis doing damage. did you know you could ride to the top of the arch. it is a four minute ride inside the tiny tram. it is not when it is lightning outside. humidity 94%. winds southwest kick bringing in a muggy feel across the area. let's take you back to manchester. watch the clouds roll in with the storms again. look how that comes threw in a bling of an eye producing severe weather. ellicott city look at the storm clouds coming through that part of the area. wind gusts 35 miles per hour. not impressive winds but certainly enough to cause some problems today. baltimore city showing that severe storm rolling through. again, that was a quick hitter. these storms where 15 to 20 minutes then they were out of here. look at this ominous skyline. in terms of what is going on active severe thunderstorms are out east of us. we have warnings in extreme eastern cecil county because of the strong moving storms into southern new jersey. a thunderstorm watch maintained through the 9:00 hour for much of the city l

showers are getting up south of st. louis.kansas getting most of the rain and the rain continues to move north. a pleasant morning this morning. readings from baltimore around 70 degrees. off to the north, hagerstown, 65. 50's and 60's in far western maryland. the dew point temperatures were quite low yesterday appeared this morning the temperatures are in the 60's. down to the70's south. dew points are low and that makes for some uncomfortable weather with the lack of humidity in the atmosphere. this'll be the site of the big race. we're all dry. the area of high pressure is keeping us in great shape. the tropical moisture is off to the southwest. what is left of isaac will interact with this cool front. eventually it will bump into that and start pushing that moisture eastward. that will happen at a slow pace. the first portion of our holiday weekend is in good shape. we have a tropical storm in the tropics, lesley. these storms look like they will be ocean goers. it doesn't look like they will be a big threat to the contine

st. louis, missouri, decided to throw a parade for iraq veterans to say welcome home. we missed you. we're glad the war's over. we're glad the war is over. st. louis' parade to mark the end of the iraq war was a huge success. 100,000 people, universal acclaim. and, frankly, it called to question whether we as a country, do what we did at the end of previous wars, which is to welcome our home with a parade up broadway in new york city. like we did for wars from the spanish-american war, through the world wars, through korea to the first gulf war through the presidency of the first george bush. we did not do a parade in the 1970s to welcome home to troops who fought in vietnam as the vietnam war ended. we righted that wrong and honored vietnam veterans years later in 1985. the predominant sentiment at the time, then, as is now, that it was the right thing to do to honor those vietnam veterans with a parade at broadway. it's a shame it took so long to do it. st. louis in january of this year reall
