debbie stabenow wants to take money from safety nets in south dakota and put them into urban gardensnd farmers markets. it will help her in a selection to show she's advocating for her district but we are not going to sign a bad farm bill. we are going to fight and make sure we have a farm bill that keeps the revenue that stays in commodity programs in south dakota. the good thing is the last farm bill we did made the program permanent. every farmer has programs operating today like they always have been. when we get back after the election and debbie is done playing politics, we will have kept what south dakota governors observe. sometimes you have to fight and make sure you're protecting your stated that is what i've done consistently. there was a national debate and fight with my own leadership over the last farm bill to make sure we get livestock disaster programs in place, we got provisions to fight the time beatles in the black hills and we won, to make sure we had crop insurance. those have been incredibly important, the last farm bill with permanent programs is keeping a stab

debbie stabenow had a closer race than expected, but as of right now i think democrats in those statesto be pretty pleased with how things turned out? >> what about ohio? >> ohio is interesting because it went the other way. democrats were hoping they could rebuild some of what they lost in the industrialized northeast of the state and it came back a little but not as much as they needed. it was a really surprising night and we'll be digging into those returns for a long time. >> what is your big takeaway from what happened in the upper midwest in 2018? >> well, i think the upper midwest is still where the action is at. there are a couple of states, ohio and iowa, where donald trump's margins seemed to hold. they eroded a bit but not too much. there's going to be all-out war in two years in pennsylvania, wisconsin, michigan and minnesota. >> and what do voters want there? >> i think voters want people who are going to listen to them and address their needs. i think they were hoping donald trump would do that as president. i think there have been a lot of distractions he's let get in th

i want to thank chairman roberts and ranking member stabenow for their work, as well as the members in the house, including my colleague from minnesota, republican leader collin peterson, who will be taking over the ag committee in the house next year. this is a bill that is so important to rural america and in my state. we have seen low commodity prices for too long, and as a member of the ag committee, i know that the last farm bill has some really good things for a strong safety net. but this farm bill will allow us to make some changes to the way the data is collected which will be helpful for our farmers with farm insurance. we've got some improvements in dairy. we have got some good work that is going on with regard to conservation and some changes there. and as you know, our senate bill got 86 votes. we don't even get that for a volleyball resolution around here. and it was a bipartisan bill, and much of that bill, i know, will be contained in this tentative agreement. tentative is with a small "t," and the only reason we're saying that is because we've got to get the printed ve

senator schumer, klobuchar, gillibrand, stabenow, donnelly, then it, casey, heitkamp and there might be others but clearly the white house regularly consults with all state senators. he. they are describing the white house version of the event and then also received the senators responses come at the new jersey senators responses and i think that shows the white house consulted in good faith without objection i will enter those into the record and i think it is unfair to say that this is a job when the nominee has been here on april and. without one positive blue slip for example we find such hearings under the chairman for the nominees for the sixth and ninth circuit. with the colleagues do not mention is the way the senators used to block nominees and they opposed the filibuster at six votes. my democratic colleagues abolished the lesser. now it seems like they are asking for the right to block a nominee from getting a hearing before the judiciary committee. i told my democratic colleagues at the time november 2013 abolishing the worcester used to be that 41 senators can block the

[laughter] and there's a reason why a lot of states don't allow it, because it is unnatural. now, andrew cuomo is cheating the gods. be was able to do it and got away with it, but hey it's new york state. hard for a democrat to lose there. but whatever was the problem in wisconsin that led to republicans winning, donald trump winning wisconsin by 7/10 of one point, same thing. pennsylvania, winning t
