that's where fox 5's stacey cohan is standing by with more details. good morning, stacey. reporter: good morning. it's been over a year since that recording first made headlines around the country, even some international headlines because of the sensational nature of a politician's wife stuffing cash in her undergarments. now that politician, jack johnson will be heading to federal prison. he hears his sentence today from federal judge peter maseti. he could be sent to prison right away or they could set a future date at which he is to surrender to authorities. it is unclear at this point what is going to happen. of course he was accused of and pled guilty to accepting bribes. there are videotapes of him accepting stacks of cash from developers and it is to the tune of hundreds of thousands of dollars reportedly, the long- term gain from this corruption scheme. one of the audiotapes caught jack johnson talking about possible prosecution. >> got a lot of political enemies emies reporter: according to sentencing sentencing guidelines, he could get up to 14 years in prison.

our own stacey cohan is there live now. what's the latest, stacey? reporter: the latest is the water is still here, it's not going anywhere. it is just as full and beautiful, sparkling right across the roadway as it has been all day. we just saw a car go into the county courthouse. you are able to enter it if you're coming from downtown upper marlboro into the county courthouse now although there is a sign that says road closed, i've seen they've allowed a couple of cars in this way. if you are trying to access the courthouse, water avenue, the route 4, pennsylvania avenue, that's not happening for you. the water, as you can see, is just completely wiped out the roadway. now, it's interesting. you can see there's a bridge somewhere underneath that water and as i was reporting all morning about work-arounds for this water, one young man challenged me with an interesting dilemma. here's what he had to say. >> can't get to work because i usually catch the bus here to the courthouse and i take the short 10-minute walk to the kfc. now as you see, it's pre

we get more now from fox 5's stacey cohan from the courthouse. reporter: it really does rock prince george's county. if you think about it, this man has been at the top of the county level of government for 16 years. he spent eight years as a top prosecutor, eight years as county executive and now it looks like he's heading to federal prison. quite a turn of events. it appears that federal authorities have been investigating him nearly since he took office as county executive under suspicion of bribery. of course, he is videotaped and autopsied accepting bribes from developers, exchanging favors. some reports have it almost to a million dollars in bribes accepted by jack johnson. they claim that it was a pay-to- play procedure in his government that he ran and just 24 days before his term ended he was taped exchanging cash, accepting a bribe from a laurel developer. he could be seen flipping through the cash and talking later that day about possible prosecution. >> he had a lot of political enemies and they called them various profiteers. profite

where stacey cohan is this morning. >> reporter: a very scary evening for residents here of the clay300 block. this started about 7:00 last night where the man was wandering around just firing a gun. witnesses say he would fire shots in the air, at homes and then put the gun away for some times before bringing it out again and starting the process all over. now, police were called out to the scene for reports of this man firing a weapon. some people thought he was high on drugs. we talked to police chief kathy lanier about why she believes this may have happened, this man firing what could be as many as 30 gunshots. >> there were several calls that came in. first, for a man with a gun shooting at the houses. then calls came in for a person high on pcp firing a weapon. as officers enterrd the block, they heard the gunfire and observed the subject with a gun firing. >> reporter: now, when the man refused to drop his weapon, they did fire on him. cpr was performed on the suspect at the scene although he later died. they do suspect that pcp or perhaps some other drug was involved but we
