now the bright lights of the stacey donaldson are on. temperatures are in the 40s, but the winds are starting to pick up. they are out of the west at 20 miles per hour and we are looking for them to become more intense as we go into the evening. mountain snow will continue. we will have clouds for the front range and then very cold air moving in for next week. actually, our highs will be in the 30s for most of next week. so it's going to be a chilly one for us. now, early this morning we had a round of moisture move through. some rainfall here for northeastern colorado, and then in the mountains really just the snow all day long. the winds have been making the snow blow sideways at times. we saw that at loveland ski area. lots of folks boarding and skiing and enjoying the fresh powder. the snow continues to come down at this point. we have been having troubles on i-70. there is a winter storm watch along i-70 here. so from vail to silverthorne we have i-70 shut down eastbound. we are expecting 8 to 16 inches of snow throughout these area

let's check in with meteorologist stacey donaldson now with your first alert forecast. did you feel anything? >> i didn't. but i have been in a few little feeling like what could that possibly be? so i'm sure if i you felt that this morning, the first thing on your mind was on an earthquake for sure. well, we have had beautiful weather on our mind for quite some time now. afternoon highs in the 60s today. in burlington, colorado. we have fog and some mist hanging around the last couple of hours. here is a view over denver's city park. and, it is all lit up tonight. looks gorgeous, but a few high clouds for the air california as we look from thornton down toward denver. it looks there. we will have partly cloudy skies tonight. it will be pretty mild. but cooler tomorrow. afternoon highs in the low to mid 60s . and it will be pretty quiet this week. as a big area of high pressure sets in. that means sunshine and mild weather on the way. 48 degrees the current temperature. humidity 44%. winds in from the west at 8 miles an hour. and, at this point, we have 40s and even 50s

let's talk to stacey donaldson go is it going to be clear enough to picks is going to be something you can miss when you go outside. we have been tracking the moon here and it went out of the shot out of all of our camera networks. so all you have to do is look up a little bit. so as we talk about -- it has been very dry and warm. we have had no rain in the last 31 days and the latest snow ever -- november 21 in denver. so we only have about nine more days to be this new record and not create a new one. eldora pushed their dates -- we have had a few places push doors will be opening next week just like keystone, copper mountain and the week after. winter park which purchased their date, steamboat and also aspen. this is because it has been so warm and dry. we were 20 degrees above normal for the front range. this is what our normal hhghs should look like, in the 50s for the most part. but we are sitting in the 50s and 60s at this point in the evening. our satellite radar picture still very quite across the state. high pre will have official overnight lows in the 30s but look desperate

let's check in with meteorologist stacey donaldson. this flood is headed our way. >> reporter: it is. and we're expecting snow across colorado. we already see the front edge of clouds moving into the front range. and you can see it here a little better on our satellite radar picture. the clouds coming right in from the south and coming across our area. we will continue to have increasing clouds. we have watches and six to 10 inches of snow east of the divide and west of the divide winter storm warnings in effect. we'll talk about how this snow will affect the front range as we go into the next couple of days in a few minutes. >>> thank you so much. there will be nine days of mourning for the funeral for fidel castro. and he ruled cuba for nearly 50 years after launching a military take over. for decades he put his small island nation on the sending many cubans to exile. yesterday he died at age 90. it was celebratory night in miami as many cuban exiles were happy of the passing of castro. some say they have been waiting for this moment
