stan bush shows you what detectives want you to see. >> reporter: it was 2:30 a.m. the woman in this video attacked sean peters wife on a break from her night shift. tackling her in a parking lot >> if she did not fight back the way she did, is only speculation but there's a very very bad situation that happened, absolutely could've been much worse. >> reporter: she fought off the attacker after repeated assaults. peters said they agreed to let police released the video to the public because the investigation had gone cold. >> i have no doubt that he's going to do this again. >> reporter: police also released in this sketch, for a stick built white man in his 20s with a short light brown hair. hours before the attack, another woman called 911 about a similar suspect in a black suv who was stalking her. >> investigators are fairly certain they are the same man. >> reporter: investigators hope someone recognized this man, his movements, his behavior, even his clothes to help them arrested. >> you see the video. you see what he's done. he needs to be off the streets. >

stan bush reports on how they caught him. >> reporter: stacy could follow the footsteps of a burglar, and so could englewood police, who arrested the suspect at this apartment complex this morning. >> on a snowy night you wouldn't expect it. just to be able to follow his footsteps all the way here, and you saw the footsteps and knew they were not your own. found what's become a calling card in a series of smash and grabs, a stone used to breakthrough a glass door and ransacked business damaged by a suspect looking for anything to steal. >> someone broke in and you're excited that your staff was trained well. >> reporter: more than two victimized since christmas, some of the crimes caught on camera, where a suspect uses a stone to break glass doors, getting inside and in some cases stealing cash and merchandise. metro area police couldn't confirm if the cases are related but there's relief knowing last night's suspect could not get away. >> i feel safe now. i really feel safe. >> police have not released the suspect's name. nearly 30 smash and grabs have happened in the metro area in t
