they were some of the 55 people rushed to the two stanford hospitals on saturday. adults remain in the hospital in stanford this morning. st. francis says it has one remaining patient but he or she is not in critical condition. st. mary's has four patients remaining, none in critical condition. >>> a scott's valley man thankful to be back at work. he was one of the survivors from asiana flight 214, his name, elliot stone, owner of the elite martial arts academy. he was greeted by the welcome home sign from the students who wrote we are so glad you are back with us. no one happier than stone himself. the seven other people he was traveling with, they are also okay. he says he's still in shock as he remembers what happened aboard his flight. >> the back end just hit and flies up in the air, everybody's head goes to the ceiling and it drifts for a little bit, 300 yards, it tips over. fire starts. everybody is pushing the doors out. >> stone, as you can imagine, says he's very, very happy to be home today. >>> we'll have updates on the investigation throughout the morni

. >> dan: above stanford hospital you can see an ambulance and several journey west side injured passengers. hospital staff are surrounding them. >> cheryl: altogether, 45 passengers were taken to stanford. hospital officials held a news conference and here is what they had to say. >> we can't get into specifics about patients for privacy purposes. yes, patients were serious injuries, several patients with life-threatening injuries. then a number of patients who are obviously with varying degrees of injuries. they came by ambulance. >> dan: trauma surgeons at sfan stanford where injured passengers were several hospitals, mills hospital took in 12 passengers. >> 26 children were among the 53 passengers admitted to san francisco general hospital. lisa amin gulezian joins us from that location where she talked to a survivor. >> reporter: we did speak with him as he left. he did el fell us, benjamin levy said he was sitting in the middle of the plane when it went down. >> hit on his head and unconscious. for myself i was hurting but not too bad opened the door. it was cracked on the right-hand

. >>> there are only four injured passengers remaining at stanford hospital. the day of the crash 55 passengers were treated there. it was an active scene inside of that emergency room. tonight we have an exclusive behind the scenes look at how the e.r. in stanford handled the rush of survivorers. marianne favro joins us. >> reporter: it came down to two things. training and timing. less than three weeks before the crash the emergency department had conducted a drill to see how they should handle a massive influx of patients coming in at one time. minutes after asiana flight 214 crashed at sfo the team at stanford hospital began preparing for injured patients. 150 doctors, nurses and anise theanise -- poured in. this is the command center of the hospital. this is what it looked like saturday as 30 people worked to answer critical questions. >> how many ors can we stand up? how many icu beds? blood transfusions? >> reporter: technology played a prominent role in helping prepare for patients. >> we keep getting alerts that updates us on the amount of casualties

we are talking about highland hospital, stanford hospital, saint francis hospital in the city as well and along the peninsula as well. the manifest included 291 passengers, 16 crew members, for a total of 307 people. it has been chaotic and difficult. we just had a short while ago a news conference with mayor ed lee. chief fire chief joanne hayes-white talking how 190 people if you can understand when you look at the plane, 190 people were found when the firefighters arrived walking off that plane. so, much belter numbers than we could have seen. this could have been a much worse situation. initially, now we are hearing 132 people transported to hospitals. varying degrees of people injuri injuries, nbc bay area's cheryl herd on site since the plane crash happened. let's turn things over to her. >> reporter: jessica, i have been dichg pping in and out of continuing coverage. and some numbers, gives us a bigger picture, we have been told from the police chief and mayor, 291 passengers on, 16 crew members, 307 total people on board the plane that include passengers and crew. 48 people tr
