while we're looking at menus, a new item for starbucks shareholders: a dividend. starbucks will pay its shareholders a quarterly dividend of a dime per share beginning in a month. the stock is just off two and a half year highs. sprint is consistently among the most actively traded stocks on the new york stock exchange. it did almost 150 million shares today, rallying close to $4 a share for the first time since mid-january. the company unveiled the first u.s. phone designed to use the super high speed 4g wireless network. it will be for sale this summer. that put pressure on at&t and verizon. biotech firm genzyme continues to have some problems with a plant in massachusetts, problems that may lead the food and drug administration to take action. genzyme is at a six-week low tonight. while production will continue at the allston, massachusetts plant, the company expects the f.d.a. to have someone else oversee manufacturing there, which would lead to higher operating costs. smart energy has a big buzz phrase for public utilities, things like advanced energy meters.
