up next, michael starr, the new book about redd foxx. tavis: michael starr is a writer whose previous books include biographies of art carney and raymond burr. his latest book is about redd foxx, "black and blue: the redd foxx story." good to have you on this program. my favorite part was learning the nickname that he was given as a child. smiley sanford. because he was always smiling. i had no idea. what to do you think people -- when you started researching his life, what were some of the more surprising things about him? >> there were a few things. his relationship with morocco max. i got into it into the book how close they were done in harlem. redd foxx -- they were dishwasher's together. they ran together. they have a lot of schemes, they sold the suits off rooftops. they were very close. that was one of the things. also that he started out to be a singer, not a comedian and cut six r&d sites -- sides. tavis: when i discovered that in the ?, it did not surprise me because he was always singing. that did not surprise me. it is wanti

barbara starr working your sources at the pentagon and reza in islamabad. barbara, let's start with you. is some sort of military action being discussed here? >> at this point, kyra, the answer is no. look, the pentagon always says all options are on the table. that is the standard language. but all of our sources are indicating there is no indication of that yet. it would come, of course, at the direction of the president. one of the key problems is, if you want to do military action, what would you strike? what would your targets be? what you're talking about the revolutionary guard core, the group of people that make up the most militant wing of the iranian military. what they're still trying to pin down is whether this plot actually went beyond them. did it really go all the way to the top to president mahmoud ahmadinejad and to iran supreme leader. these are some of the key intelligence questions on the table. right now, however, they are sticking with sanctions, financial sanctions and the possibility of taking this to the u.n. security council. look

barbara starr at the pentagon. you're learning how american commanders are fighting the taliban with social media. is this a flu technique? >> well, it's really been evolving over the last few months. this comes from charlie who started looking into all of this. when we noticed that the international security systems force in afghanistan was twittering and their goal was to twitter against the taliban who had been using a lot of social media for some time. what we saw was every time the taliban would twitter, suddenly the military, the coalition would think about it and often respond. let me point you, for example, to one tweet. the taliban apparently communicated that they had brought down a helicopter. our team looks into it. they keep back and say this. quote, we have no reports of any missing helos. this is both sides going against each other without the bombs and bullets. how effective is it? the u.s. military gets its message out but do the people of afghanistan really see it? very few people in afghanistan h
