this was the most recent test of spacex's starship rocket.f around 6:30 p.m. eastern from the southern tip of texas. in a statement, spacex said that quote during starship's ascent burn, the vehicle experienced a rapid unscheduled disassembly. rapid unscheduled disassembly is kind of elon musk's specialty these days, especially in a way that really messes with other people through no fault of their own. as debris rained down tonight from elon musk's failed rocket, multiple airports in florida, including miami and fort lauderdale and west palm beach and orlando were all brought to a complete halt. ground stop at all of those airports, even departures as far north as the philadelphia airport, were significantly delayed. now, as i mentioned, this is the second time this has happened in recent weeks. spacex last test of the starship rocket suffered a similar fate in mid-january. when that happened, the faa grounded starship and has since been overseeing spacex's investigation of what went wrong, even though that investigation is still underway. l

the question is, will starship get there? and that's very much an open question. >> i do wonder if you think the faa should have authorized this test before they finalized the investigation into that previous crash in january. that one is still under investigation. >> yeah. you know, again, the faa's job is not really to make spacex successful. their job is to make sure that nobody gets hurt. and if they're assured that there's nothing that changed in the analysis or the potential danger of the launch, and then they' go aheaand give them a go to proceed. and in this case, that was true. you know, they did have another almost identical explosion and debris raining down. but again, the faa did its job and and nobody was hurt, just inconvenienced. so that's really what the faa is focused on. it's spacex's job to make the rocket work. >> do they need to add an escape capsule? garrett. >> well, it'll be very hard to do that with a rocket this big that's going to carry up to, you know, maybe 70 or more people. there's no not really

so it was kind of surprising that they're launching the starship over humans. that's not normally something that's done. but the much bigger concern, actually, is the is the role that elon has taken in this major government contractor having such influence with the president and over the entire u.s. government is incredibly unusual, and it's a conflict of interest unlike anything we've ever seen before. so that's that's an even bigger concern for me as an american. >> and, you know, there have been reports of conflicts between faa administrator and or the secretary duffy, excuse me, and elon musk, which, of course, duffy oversees the faa. but in regards to a previous launch, january's flight seven and thursday's flight eight were both allowed. both allowed, as you mentioned, starship to travel over the atlantic and caribbean before exploding near populated islands. but thursday's explosion happened before the faa could complete its investigation into the january explosion. is that a concern to you, especially when flying over populated areas, or is it just a ne
